A-Level Exam Timetable 2027: AQA Dates, Times, and Results Day
The confirmed AQA A-level exam timetable for May/June 2027 puts the first A-level Economics 7136 and English Language 7702 papers on Monday, May 10, 2027. AQA’s current PDF is version 1.2. For the UK, a morning session is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. and an afternoon session at 1:30 p.m.; on these May and June dates, the UK is observing British Summer Time (BST, UTC+01:00). That makes the first morning session 9:00 a.m. BST, or 08:00 UTC. Your school or college’s individual timetable is still the final check for your room and actual start time.

These are AQA dates, not a universal timetable for every exam board. Other awarding organizations publish their own schedules, and even students at the same center may have different papers. If your subject is not listed here, search the official timetable for your awarding body, qualification level, specification code, and component number. AQA’s dates page says its confirmed timetables are definitive and advises candidates to check for the latest version. The linked PDF identifies itself as version 1.2.
How to confirm your personal exam schedule
Check the exam board and subject code. A-level and AS papers can be on different dates, even when their titles look similar. Confirm that the code on your entry or school schedule matches your course—for example, AQA A-level Psychology is 7182, while its AS qualification is 7181.
Match every component. Record each paper number, date, session, and duration. A subject can have multiple written papers on different days. Check separately for non-exam assessment, speaking tests, or coursework deadlines; those may be shown as submission windows rather than written-exam appointments.
Use the center-issued timetable for logistics. Confirm the room, reporting time, permitted equipment, access arrangements, and any center-specific start time with your school or college’s exams officer. If a detail differs from the public PDF, ask the center to resolve it instead of guessing which document applies to you.
Recheck the official PDF before the exam series. AQA labels the timetables on its dates page as definitive, but also says to check back frequently for the latest version. Save the newest copy or note its version and the date you checked it.
For example, a student taking both AQA Economics and English Language has two papers listed on May 10, but that does not mean the student sits two exams that morning: Economics 7136/1 and English Language 7702/1 are alternatives for students entered in those separate subjects. A Psychology student should instead track the three 7182 dates in May and June.
Why the start time on your school timetable may vary
AQA’s PDF marks a paper as morning or afternoon. JCQ publishes the standard UK starts as 9:00 a.m. for morning exams and 1:30 p.m. for afternoon exams, using GMT or BST as appropriate on the exam date. JCQ rules allow UK centers to begin an exam up to 30 minutes before or after the published session start without seeking prior awarding-body permission. Candidates must still receive the full exam duration. As a result, do not use a generic web timetable as your travel or arrival instruction: follow the time your center gives you.
If your center changes a start time, or you have a timetable clash or an approved arrangement, contact the exams officer for the instructions that apply to your entry. JCQ’s Instructions for Conducting Examinations explain the common session times and the rules for centers. They do not replace your individual exam notice.
Keep June 23 and results day on your calendar
Wednesday, June 23, 2027 is the AQA/awarding-body contingency day for the summer examination period. It is reserved in case a national or significant local disruption requires an awarding body to activate its contingency plan; it is not an extra regular exam date for everyone. AQA instructs centers to remind candidates to remain available through that date. Avoid making plans that prevent you from sitting an exam if the contingency day is invoked.
AQA lists Thursday, August 12, 2027 as the day June-series A-level results are available to students. AQA says schools and colleges may give students their results slips from 8:00 a.m. on results day, but you should ask your own center when and how it will distribute them. Results are sent to centers before they are released to students, so the student date is the one to use for personal planning.
