The A-level exam timetable for Pearson Edexcel’s summer 2027 series is published as final. This guide lists the dates, paper names, published UK session times, and durations for Economics A, Mathematics, and Chemistry. It also explains what a permitted center start-time change means and what you should confirm before exam day.
This is a subject-focused extract from Pearson’s GCE timetable, not a complete calendar for every A-level subject or exam board. Check your personal exam statement and your school or college’s instructions before making travel plans.
What are the Pearson A-level exam dates in 2027?
Every date below is in 2027. Exams in May and June take place while the UK is observing British Summer Time (BST, UTC+01:00). Pearson’s published UK morning session starts at 9:00 a.m. BST (08:00 UTC); the afternoon session starts at 1:30 p.m. BST (12:30 UTC). The table follows those published times, rather than any individual center’s permitted adjustment.
| Date | Subject and paper | Published UK start | Duration |
| Monday, May 10 | Economics A (9EC0/01), Paper 1: Markets and Business Behaviour | 9:00 a.m. BST (08:00 UTC) | 2 hours |
| Monday, May 17 | Economics A (9EC0/02), Paper 2: The National and Global Economy | 1:30 p.m. BST (12:30 UTC) | 2 hours |
| Wednesday, May 26 | Mathematics (9MA0/01), Paper 1: Pure Mathematics 1 | 1:30 p.m. BST (12:30 UTC) | 2 hours |
| Friday, May 28 | Chemistry (9CH0/01), Paper 1: Advanced Inorganic and Physical Chemistry | 9:00 a.m. BST (08:00 UTC) | 1 hour 45 minutes |
| Monday, June 7 | Economics A (9EC0/03), Paper 3: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics | 9:00 a.m. BST (08:00 UTC) | 2 hours |
| Wednesday, June 9 | Mathematics (9MA0/02), Paper 2: Pure Mathematics 2 | 1:30 p.m. BST (12:30 UTC) | 2 hours |
| Thursday, June 10 | Chemistry (9CH0/02), Paper 2: Advanced Organic and Physical Chemistry | 9:00 a.m. BST (08:00 UTC) | 1 hour 45 minutes |
| Wednesday, June 16 | Mathematics (9MA0/03), Paper 3: Statistics and Mechanics | 1:30 p.m. BST (12:30 UTC) | 2 hours |
| Thursday, June 17 | Chemistry (9CH0/03), Paper 3: General and Practical Principles in Chemistry | 9:00 a.m. BST (08:00 UTC) | 2 hours 30 minutes |
The first listed paper, Economics A Paper 1, is scheduled for Monday, May 10, 2027, at 9:00 a.m. in the UK (BST, UTC+01:00), which is 08:00 UTC. The UTC equivalents are provided as a time-zone reference; candidates sitting at a UK center should follow the center’s local instructions.
Does this timetable cover every A-level exam board?
No. These dates come from Pearson Edexcel’s GCE Summer 2027 timetable and apply to the listed Pearson paper codes. AQA, OCR, WJEC, CCEA, and other awarding organizations publish their own schedules. Even when two boards offer a subject with the same name, paper dates and exam durations can differ.
Start by checking the exam-board name and qualification code on your entry or statement. Then match the full paper code, such as 9MA0/02, rather than relying only on “Mathematics Paper 2.” Pearson’s timetable page provides the UK and international schedules. If you attend an international center, do not assume the UK start times or UTC conversions in this article apply: Pearson publishes separate time-zone guidance, and your center should confirm the schedule you must follow.
Can an exam center change the published start time?
For UK centers, Pearson’s final timetable gives published session starts of 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A center may, subject to the timetable’s security conditions, begin a morning exam between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. BST, or an afternoon exam between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. BST. These are permitted windows for the center; they are not an invitation for candidates to arrive late or to choose a different start.
Pearson sets supervision requirements around an adjustment. Candidates who begin early must remain under supervision until one hour after the published session start: 10:00 a.m. for a published 9:00 a.m. paper, or 2:30 p.m. for a published 1:30 p.m. paper. Candidates whose paper begins late must be supervised from 9:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., respectively, until the exam begins. Timetable clashes have separate arrangements, so students with overlapping papers should ask their exams officer how those rules apply to them.
If the center changes the published starting time, it must inform affected candidates. Check messages from your school or college, and contact the exams officer if the time, venue, or arrival instructions on your personal timetable do not match. Do not rely on another student’s schedule: candidates in the same subject may have different arrangements because of a clash or an approved access arrangement.
What should you check before exam day?
- Confirm the awarding organization. Make sure your entry is for Pearson Edexcel before using these dates.
- Match the paper code. Check all digits after the subject code so you have the right paper and session.
- Copy the date and session into your calendar. The published UK sessions are 9:00 a.m. BST (08:00 UTC) and 1:30 p.m. BST (12:30 UTC).
- Follow your center’s latest notice. It will tell you the required arrival time, room, and any change to the starting time.
- Raise clashes or access needs early. Your exams officer can explain arrangements that the general timetable does not show.
Does “final” mean the timetable can never be updated?
“Final” identifies Pearson’s published final timetable edition. It does not remove the need to check for later notices. Pearson directs timetable users to its useful-information page for changes made after final timetables are published. Check that page and your center’s communications as the exam period approaches, especially if you downloaded the PDF well in advance.
The UK time labels matter because clocks move forward to BST on March 28, 2027, before these May and June exams. The published UK morning start of 9:00 a.m. BST is therefore 08:00 UTC on these dates, and 1:30 p.m. BST is 12:30 UTC. International candidates should use the timetable and start-time rules for their own center rather than converting from the UK schedule.
