7 Mistakes about discipline children parents often make!

Here are 7 disciplinary mistakes that parents are making! Don't worry, with where every mistake is mentioned, we have tips on how you can avoid repeating them.

LOSE CONTROL

Losing control can have reversed results when we discipline our children. At first you will scream more and more and then worse than spanking. Once parents have followed that path yelling, spanking and easily losing control of themselves, it is very difficult to return. We convey to the child that when needed, we can get angry, use force or scream to solve problems. They may also begin to yell at you, and even worse, hit you to convey their frustration.

Another option:  time-out penalty * is not just for kids. If the parent feels the need to calm down or the loss of control intensifies, move away for a few minutes so you can calm down. Calm down before you talk to your child.

(Time-out penalty is for babies to sit in a corner so they have time to calm down and think about their behaviors. Time is usually applied according to the child's age, 2 year olds can fine time-out 2 minutes maximum)

NEGATIVE SPEAKERS

How often do you find yourself yelling at commands like "don't do this!" or "Stop it now!"? "You did not do it right" "That is wrong"

Substitution: Avoid negative language, and only use the word "NO" for truly dangerous situations (for example, if your child puts their finger in an electrical outlet). Explain why you shouldn't do what you're telling them not to, so your child should better understand this. For example, if your child pulls her sister's hair, instead of yelling, say, "Look, I'm hurting my sister and it makes me sad." And even if you are wrong, but when you listen, praise your actions of listening, not continue to lead on your mistakes.

WE DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE RULE

We set rules and we didn't follow them. For example we teach our children not to be disrespectful to others. However, when we are angry we often yell in front of our children. This gives you the message that rules can be bent and broken when you are angry.

Substitution:  Even if you are not a parent, controlling your own control is not an easy task. So if our moods are not good, and we may lose control, acknowledge them and apologize, not using parental rights to mess with children.

CHILD SALES

We all have suffered! When bribing a child by eating, doing or wearing one, the parent will give / buy another for the child, and the child will follow just because they will receive something like the parent said. And the consequence of this is that everything you do is possible just for the material benefit in front of you.

Substitution: Instead of bribing good behavior, experts say reinforcing good behavior is more effective. So instead of saying, "If you're good at the supermarket, I'll buy you candy", say 'I'm very proud of the way you performed at the supermarket today. You are a very active girl. good micro ". Likewise, if your child is not behaving well, say, "The way you performed at the supermarkets today makes mum sad. 'It may seem a bit cliché to a child, but this helps develop your child's language, critical thinking and compassion.

NO CONFORMITY IN DISCIPLINE

How many parents have ever gone through work - tell their child to end up playing on the computer, but just sit back and not listen and keep playing. and we have to repeat many times, even threatening: "If you don't turn off your computer right away, you won't be able to watch TV this week" and ..... But he continues with his game on the computer, and sometimes has to go straight in and turn off the computer, and even pull him out of the computer. And we forget about the first threat about television, gradually you watch our words just speak, not bring the effect of any discipline.

Substitution: No promises that cannot be kept or fulfilled, especially in this case, are just threats. Set limits and stick to them. Be consistent with the rules you set. Once the rule is, there is understanding, understanding and acceptance and compliance, so there is no need to negotiate, bid, or plead with the child. If your child follows the rules even though they seem unhappy, thank them for following the rules.

Expectation is too high

Take the earlier example of the kid in the supermarket. You often expect your child to sit in the shopping cart obediently, without moving his or her hands and feet, not climbing up and down, or standing up and down. Do you think expectations are too high for a child?

Substitution: Experts say that young children are not set to know social norms. Children see a colorful package of candy, and instinctively want it. There is an easier option than letting the kids go would avoid inconveniences, but that way we won't have a chance to teach us good manners at a supermarket, or in a public place. It's best to expect to remind your child a few times before they behave properly, and praise their good behavior at the right time.

A GENERAL METHOD DOES NOT MEET ALL CHILDREN

You can fine time-out with your daughter effectively, but with a brother, it's the exact opposite, when punishing her to sit in the corner to think, she won't sit still, what should you do?

Substitution:  Must understand and analyze the child's personality before effective disciplinary or disciplinary action. Each child is completely different, in addition, different ages require different methods of discipline. You can't expect an 18-month-old baby to time-out the same way a 4 year old.
