The most common rash an infant receives is a milk rash. A milk rash is identified as a red skin rash that can appear on an infant's chin, cheeks or nose. For older children, it can be described as white acne-like growth that may appear on the face or shoulders. Rash is a common, milk rash is an allergic reaction to milk or a hormone reaction to the baby's breast milk. At other times, these rashes may also appear if the milk has dried on the baby's face and hasn't been wiped off. These rashes can also appear if your child's skin is always wet with saliva or comes in contact with rough fabrics or chemicals like perfumes.
Milk rash treatments
Even without applying any milk rash treatments, this rash will gradually go away on its own. But because it's so unsightly, parents want to get rid of it immediately using the cream. One of the early treatments for ointment is to apply cream. This is usually prescribed by a doctor, especially if the rash is red, thick, and persistent. However, most parents are wary about using this cream as it can thin the skin and increase sensitivity. Other treatments for milk rash that are effective for many parents are as follows:
1. Jasmine
Popular in Southeast Asia, jasmine is a scent flower from white flowers, often used in natural remedies for its healing compounds. Although jasmine is often used as a sedative, antidepressant, and aphrodisiac, it is considered one of the most powerful milk remedies. Cool the flowers before use and rub gently on baby's rash. The oils released in the flower not only lighten the skin but also moisturize the baby's skin.
2. Ice cream Wondercreams
Considered one of the best dairy remedies, Wondercreams is effective, inexpensive and versatile. By regularly applying a thin layer, these creams heal and soothe milk quickly.
3. Mild detergent
Usually the most effective gentle milk remedies. Try washing your baby's face with Cetaphil or Physiogel cleansers as these have been shown to clear the rash of milk in just a few days.
4. Breast milk
Believe it or not, breast milk is considered one of the treatments for milk rash. Safe to use and has natural healing properties. Just wet a cotton pad with breast milk and gently rub it on the rash area daily until it is gone.
5. Wet towels
Milk fever can be prevented and healed with the use of a clean, wet cloth. To lighten the wound, be sure to wipe your baby with a clean wet cloth after feeding.
6. Regularly change towels / clothes
After feeding, some babies still spatter milk around their face, neck or body. Make a routine to regularly change overalls, clothes or shawls to prevent a milk rash and maintain hygiene for your baby.
