Simple stomach massage can reduce bloating and support digestive movement along the intestines of the baby. You just need to follow these simple steps:
Lie on your back facing you on your back.
Imagine your baby's tummy like a clock face: his stomach is at 12 o'clock, his groin is at 6 o'clock, and his flanks are at 3 and 9 o'clock.
Lean into your baby, and use your fingers to gently massage your baby's head in a circular motion. Make eye contact with your baby for signs that the baby is comfortable and ready for a massage.
Take a little baby oil and place a coin-like amount in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands with the oil to warm it up, especially around your fingertips.
Place your right hand across your baby's belly and gently swipe from the belly to the lower groin before lifting your hand. Repeat the flat motion in the opposite direction to your left hand until your hands are moving continuously and evenly like a chain wheel. This is the first step of massage and helps to massage oil evenly on your baby.
Next, place your two thumbs in the center of your baby's stomach and gently swipe towards the waist. Keep your hand movements steady but gentle.
Imagine your baby's belly as a clock face facing you. Find the 7 o'clock position, and press in with your left palm and rub in a circular motion around your baby's abdomen, ending where you started.
Then, start at 12 o'clock and move around the stomach, ending at 6 o'clock (near the groin).
Combine the movements in step 7 and number 8 at the same time. Your left hand does the 7 action, while your right hand does the 8 action.
To relieve stomach pain in case of contractions, hold your baby's ankles and gently lift your baby's ankles up and down.
