To infertile couples, a child is more precious than anything. Let's learn the procedure of in vitro fertilization from A - Z right below!
What is in vitro fertilization?
Method of conception in vitro
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a technique for infertility and infertility in which eggs and sperm are fertilized in a test-tube environment. Once the embryo is formed on day 2.3 or 5, it is selected to transfer into the woman's uterus.
Contraindications to in vitro fertilization
The mother is over 40 years old.
Mother has 2 tubes blocked.
Decreased ovarian reserve or ovarian failure.
Dad has few, weak, malformed sperm (not enough to pump sperm into the uterus).
Dad does not have sperm, must take sperm from the crest, testicles.
The sperm pump failed several times.

Experience in doing IVF successfully
For the wife
Endocrine tests: quantify the concentration of sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, ...) gonadotropin hormones (LH, FSH). These tests are aimed at assessing the functioning of the Lower Hill - Yen - Ovarian shaft and the wife's ovarian reserve (AMH, FSH, LS).
Testing for sexually transmitted diseases: the wife will have blood drawn for tests to check whether or not she has sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B and take vaginal fluids to test for Chlamydia, ...
Gynecological ultrasound: to detect gynecological abnormalities such as ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids or congenital abnormalities of the female genital tract or polycystic ovaries, ... Simultaneously through ultrasound Your doctor will perform a basal follicle count on your ovaries on the first day of your menstrual cycle.
For the husband
Semen test: This is a test aimed at checking the quality of the husband's semen, assessing the number of sperms more or less, whether the sperm is moving well or not, whether the sperm is abnormal or not.
In the case if the husband does not have sperm, there will be other specialized tests such as a sex hormone test, an ultrasound of the testicles, ...
Other tests: The husband is also given blood to check for sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, syphilis, ...
3. Stimulate the ovaries
In vitro fertilization process
The wife will be injected continuously stimulating the ovaries every day, for about 9-12 days. During the injection, the wife will be scheduled for an ultrasound and blood test to monitor the growth of the follicle.
When the follicle reaches the required size, the wife will be given a last shot of the drug to stimulate the egg to mature (also known as the ovulation nose). This should be given on time.
4. Poke eggs and get sperm
When the eggs are met, the puncture will be done vaginally about 36 hours after the last injection. Each egg suction procedure takes 10-15 minutes, and the wife is under anesthesia so there is no pain.
After pulling the eggs, the wife will be monitored at the hospital for 2-3 hours. You can refer to additional notes when pulling eggs.
At the same time, the husband takes sperm to prepare for an embryo transplant or is told to take a sample of the frozen sperm (if it has been previously frozen).
5. In vitro fertilization
In vitro fertilization process
Next, the eggs and sperm are transferred to the lab for fertilization and embryogenesis. The embryo will be cultured outside for 2-5 days. In the meantime, the wife will be given oral and vaginal medications in preparation for the embryo transfer.
There are two possibilities: transfer of fresh embryos (performed immediately after embryo creation) and transfer of stored embryos (wives are not healthy enough, embryos after creation will be frozen to transfer embryos to the next cycle).
However, there are also many cases that, for personal or professional reasons, all the collected embryos will still be frozen. During this time, the doctor will administer oral and vaginal medications to the wife in preparation for the embryo transfer.
6. Transfer the embryo into the uterus
In vitro fertilization process
The husband and wife will be informed of the quantity and quality of the embryos produced. Then, the number of embryos transferred to the uterus, the remaining embryos that can be frozen will be agreed between the couple and the doctor.
If the uterine lining is sufficiently thick, of good quality, and conducive to the implantation and development of the embryo after it is placed in the uterus, the doctor will perform embryo transfer. After that, the wife needs to rest for 2-4 hours at the hospital. During the 2 weeks after the embryo transfer, the wife continued to use hormonal drugs and to live and rest as directed by the treating doctor.
In the case of an embryo transfer, the wife will have an ultrasound and medication to monitor the mucosa for 14-18 days starting from day 2 of the next menstrual cycle, after which the doctor will choose the timing of edema. suitable for transferring stored embryos.
7. Pregnancy test after embryo transfer
Two weeks after transferring the embryo, the wife will have to go to the hospital to have a blood test to check the HCG beta concentration. If this time the HCG beta> 25 IU / l is pregnant (embryo implantation). However, this concentration depends on each person's body and the number of embryos to nest.
After 2 days, you need to do the test again to evaluate the results:
If beta HCG levels increase from 1.5 times or more, the fetus is developing. Then the mother needs to continue using the pill and go to the scheduled ultrasound to determine the pregnancy bag and fetal heart.
If the beta HCG concentration does not increase or decrease, monitoring should be continued. When beta HCG becomes negative (less than 5 UI / l), a miscarriage occurs.
In this case, if there are still frozen embryos, the wife can also use the frozen embryo to transfer into the uterus in subsequent cycles without having to repeat the previous steps.
In vitro fertilization process
After determining that the embryo has developed into a fetus, at this time the mother needs to have an ultrasound and periodically check the pregnancy according to the doctor's appointment to check the fetal development status until the date of birth.
Above is the whole procedure of in vitro fertilization at the hospital that mothers should refer to before performing. Wish your husband and wife soon have baby!
