How to put on Mascara: the technique used by make-up artists

Mascara is that magical make-up product capable of changing an entire look.

THE MASCARA

Mascara is the most widely used eye makeup cosmetic . You  can always wear it, it is necessary on intense make-up and it is indispensable for soap and water make-up. Just a gloss, a little blush or bronzer and a little mascara and our face changes radically.

Mascara is a truly must-have product. We can do without pencils, eye shadows, lipsticks ... but not him.

HOW TO APPLY MASCARA?

I want to reveal some tricks that we make up artists use to put mascara on. Of course everyone has their own techniques and I don't know them all, but I can share mine with you. Here are all the steps to follow for a professional mascara application .

1. COMB THE LASHES

We take an eyelash comb and start by combing them, the hard bristles of which it is composed will eliminate any lumps that often form due to makeup residues or to an excessive production of secretion of the eyes during the night.

2. FOLD THE LASHES

The eyelash curler is that strange metal contraption that looks like a pliers. It may scare at first glance, but it's the tool that makes the difference. Using it is simple the important thing is to pay attention not to pinch the skin, and not to pull while tightening. We must proceed very calmly.

We take all the lashes up to the base 'squeeze and release' for 4-5 times per eye, the result will be amazing. If you have particularly long lashes you can also fold them in half length, in this case always be very delicate.

 

 

 

3. PREPARE AND PROTECT

Once combed and folded, the eyelashes must be prepared but above all protected, even more so if we go to use waterproof products that weaken them. There are many ' primer ' products on the market . They can be volumizing, lengthening or just curative and protective. The choice of the most suitable product is up to you, according to your needs. Then we take a small amount of product and spread it with horizontal movements upwards.

4. WITHDRAW THE PRODUCT

It might seem trivial, but if the mascara is not picked up correctly we risk creating a mash while we apply it and we risk making it dry more quickly.

So, to avoid this, let's proceed in this way: impregnate the brush with the right amount of product, be careful not to go up and down with the same, this would let air in and the mascara would become unusable sooner than expected. The correct procedure to do is simply to: dip all the way in and extract. If you have taken too much, download it on a tissue before proceeding with the application.

5. APPLY MASCARA

How to put on mascara? Looking down and keeping the chin down, apply it on the upper lashes, first horizontally and then vertically, raising the eyebrow arch with the index finger of the free hand in order to fan them out.

It should be spread with quick movements from the bottom up, taking extreme care to take the lashes from the root , pause on the base with zigzag movements to give more volume. We keep their natural direction as much as possible. Do not let it dry between one pass and the next to avoid the formation of lumps.

For a cat eyes effect, we intensify the outermost part with decisive outward movements. If we put it on the bottom, remember to look up . Let's make sure the mascara on top is completely dry before proceeding, to avoid staining the eyelid. Applying the mascara on the lower part requires attention , proceed slowly with the tip of the brush, with light movements from the inside out.

 

 

 

 

SOME LITTLE CUTS

To make dark eyes even more intense and penetrating, apply black mascara to all lashes. Without waiting for the product to be completely dry, apply only 2 coats of blue mascara on the tips . If you have light eyes (green eyes or blue eyes) replace the blue mascara with a burgundy color , or in any case a color that has a part of red pigment inside.

If you want to apply a colored mascara, never apply it on all lashes. Apply a brown or black mascara to the base up to the middle of the lashes with zigzag movements, to give definition and depth to the look, instead apply the colored mascara only on the tips .

For a natural but particular effect you can create an ombre on the lashes by applying an intense black mascara to the base and a light brown mascara on the tips. This method is also ideal for very light girls with very blond hair and eyelashes. The ideal color of rimmel to use on these characteristics is in fact brown , black alone, however it is not recommended, as it would make everything too artificial. You can use the ombré mascara method on the most important occasions to have a fantastic but always natural eye make-up.

ONE THING TO NEVER DO

One last important thing, never share your mascara with anyone, and don't use other people's mascara. Mascara is the only cosmetic that cannot be disinfected and the eyes are one of the most exposed parts of our body. If you find yourself trying a mascara somewhere make sure the disposable pipe cleaners are used. This is a very important thing that should not be underestimated.
