Colored concealers: discover the uses of each color!

The concealer is a faithful ally of our make-up as it allows us to even out the complexion, minimize discoloration and visibly reduce  skin problems .

Both beige and colored correctors are readily available on the market. We explain what color correctors are and how they are used , in order to help you choose the product that best suits your needs and skin problems.

WHAT ARE COLORED CORRECTORS

The colored correctors are produced, usually proposed in stick or cream, which serve to neutralize and cancel discolorations on the face , through the principle given by the " color theory " which sees two complementary hues, zero if joined together.

WHAT COLORED CORRECTORS ARE FOR AND WHY USE THEM

The colored concealer is a very useful makeup product to minimize discoloration, neutralize spots and redness , reduce the visibility of particular imperfections such as marked dark circles and widespread grayness in order to improve the appearance of the skin of the face.

On the market, the concealer is available in different colors : each of them performs a specific function and is aimed at a particular skin problem in order to make it less conspicuous and flashy.

To understand which is the most suitable colored corrector for our needs, it is necessary to refer to the so-called " Theory of color ". According to the latter, the complementary colors cancel each other out. This means that if, for example, we are affected by widespread redness , the green corrector will be the most appropriate as, combined with red, it neutralizes it.

HOW THE COLORED CORRECTORS ARE USED

Whether in stick, compact, cream or fluid, the application of colored concealers is quite simple. Regardless of the texture, they are always used after the usual face cream and before applying the foundation .

The colored corrector is applied only on the discoloration or on the imperfection (not on the whole face!). Apply using a cat's tongue brush with compact bristles , blend slightly and set with a little transparent powder. Then you can proceed with the drafting of the foundation with which it will subsequently be uniformed in order to make the complexion as homogeneous as possible: in this case we can help ourselves with a common latex sponge. If you do not have a concealer brush available, you can simply apply it with your fingertips trying to heat the product and blend so as not to leave accumulations.

WHICH COLOR CORRECTOR TO CHOOSE?

There are numerous colored correctors on the market  but which shade to choose and based on what criteria? We simply need to focus on the color that can neutralize the shade that constitutes our discoloration.

We show you all the colors available  and their functionality.

GREEN CORRECTOR

The green concealer is indicated to minimize and hide any type of redness . It is perfect for hiding signs of acne, small scars, capillaries in evidence , rosacea and couperose by virtue of the fact that the green color cancels the red .

YELLOW CORRECTOR

The yellow corrector is instead indicated to neutralize dark circles that tend to be markedly purple. It allows you to turn off the purple , returning the eye area to a neutral shade, perfectly uniform after applying the foundation.

The orange corrector is also necessary if we want to neutralize the color of dark circles . However, in this case, orange cancels the bluish hue making the eye area more uniform to the natural color of the complexion.

RED CORRECTOR

Unusual, but still useful, there is also the red concealer , initially replaced by the classic lipstick mixed with the beige concealer . Some professional brands propose it as it is indicated to neutralize particularly showy dark circles , both blue and purple, and to minimize any bruises or bruises that we accidentally find on our body.

PINK CORRECTOR

The pink concealer is instead indicated to revive a dull and asphyxiated complexion , which often turns gray. It can possibly be spread over the entire face (rather simple operation if we choose a creamy texture ), or mixed with the usual cream before applying the foundation.

CORRECTOR LIGHT BLUE / LIGHT BLUE

The light blue concealer , little used but still useful, was created to revive particularly light skin or possibly to minimize skin spots or hyperpigmentation , helping to even out the complexion making it more homogeneous. Also in this case it is recommended to mix it with the face cream to facilitate application on a large skin surface.

LILAC / PURPLE CORRECTOR

The purple corrector works by turning off the typical yellow undertone of olive skins . Its action makes it possible to even out the complexion giving the face a neutral shade, bringing a greater chromatic yield of the foundation applied later.

BEIGE CORRECTOR

The beige correctors are certainly among the most used. On the market there are easily available shades that vary in the undertone (warm, cold or neutral rather than pink or peach) and that are perfect to match the color of the foundation we usually use.

This type of concealer helps to cover imperfections but is essentially created to even out the complexion by increasing the coverage of the foundation applied later.

BROWN / CHOCOLATE CORRECTOR

The brown or chocolate-colored concealer , also characterized by warm, cold or neutral undertones, is used instead to even out Afro skins or for black women , reducing any imperfections . It is the equivalent of the beige concealer for us Caucasians and can also be combined in this case with the respective foundation.
