1. Google Account Configuration
Gmail is a flagship service from Google, with many very good security options. Sendy – as well as non-Google applications – cannot use SMTP right away by default. Therefore, you need to "grant" Sendy permission to use Gmail's SMTP through the following instructions:
1.1. Enable 2-Step Verification
The 2-Step Verification function, in addition to enhancing the security of your account, will allow you to grant permission to sign in to applications outside of Google. If you have not enabled this function, you can follow these instructions:
Login to your Gmail account at the link https://myaccount.google.com/ and click Signing in to Google .
Choose to enable 2-Step Verification
Then, you enter your phone number, wait for the confirmation message to complete.
1.2. Create an account for Sendy using Gmail
Returning to the Sign-in & Security page, you will see an additional entry, Apps Password. Click on it, you Generate a new password for Sendy.
Note, copy this password somewhere in case you forget it while installing. Once you have pressed the DONE button, you will not be able to view the password again. After successfully installing SMTP for Sendy, I will delete it.
2. Gmail SMTP Settings for Sendy
Log in to your Sendy account, click Settings in the upper right corner, and make sure that the two Amazon Web Services Credentials boxes are empty. This will help Sendy switch to using SMTP instead of Amazon SES.
Then, in the Settings of each Brand account, you will see where to fill in the SMTP information. You just need to fill in the information exactly as below and press the Save button when done.
- Host: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 465
- SSL/TSL: SSL
- Username: Your Email
- Password: Password Generated from App Passwords
After completing, go to Campaign to create a test campaign to test.
3. Limitations of SMTP
