GCSE Exam Timetable 2027: Pearson Edexcel Dates and Center Times
The final Pearson Edexcel GCSE summer 2027 timetable runs from Monday, May 10, through Friday, June 18. The first morning includes papers such as Biblical Hebrew and Computer Science; the last scheduled morning includes Physics Paper 2 and Combined Science Paper 6. Use the dates below to plan revision, then compare them with your school or college’s personal exam schedule. This guide covers Pearson Edexcel GCSEs in the UK; it is not a combined timetable for every awarding organization.
Which GCSE examination timetable does this guide cover?
Pearson’s document is labeled “GCSE Summer 2027 Examination Timetable — FINAL.” It contains a week-by-week schedule and an alphabetical subject index across 28 pages. GCSE candidates should check the exam board and qualification code on their entry details before using any date: another board’s timetable may differ, and a subject name alone does not confirm which paper or tier a student takes.

What are the key Pearson Edexcel GCSE dates?
The main English, Mathematics, and science papers are scheduled in morning sessions. The table shows the published subject dates; it does not replace the exam center’s notice of the exact start time for an individual candidate.
| Subject | Paper dates in 2027 | Published session |
| English Literature | Paper 1: May 12; Paper 2: May 19 | Morning |
| Mathematics | Paper 1, non-calculator: May 14; Paper 2, calculator: May 27; Paper 3, calculator: June 14 | Morning, all tiers |
| English Language and English Language 2.0 | Paper 1: May 24; Paper 2: June 8 | Morning |
| Biology | Paper 1: May 11; Paper 2: June 10 | Morning, Foundation and Higher |
| Chemistry | Paper 1: May 17; Paper 2: June 15 | Morning, Foundation and Higher |
| Physics | Paper 1: May 25; Paper 2: June 18 | Morning, Foundation and Higher |
| Combined Science | Papers 1–3: May 11, May 17, May 25; Papers 4–6: June 10, June 15, June 18 | Morning, Foundation and Higher |
Some other subjects have afternoon papers or several components on different dates. For example, History Paper 1 is scheduled for May 20 in the morning, Paper 2 for May 28 in the morning, and Paper 3 for June 9 in the afternoon. Geography, Religious Studies, languages, and other options also have their own dates in the official subject index. Check the exact paper code rather than assuming every paper in a subject is on the same day.
What time do UK GCSE exams start?
Pearson publishes two standard UK start times: 9:00 a.m. for a morning session and 1:30 p.m. for an afternoon session. Every date in this summer series falls after the UK’s March 28, 2027 clock change and before its October 31 change, so the UK is on British Summer Time, BST (UTC+01:00). The published starts therefore correspond to 8:00 a.m. UTC and 12:30 p.m. UTC, respectively. GOV.UK lists the 2027 clock-change dates.
Those UTC conversions are a reference for international readers, not a way for an overseas candidate to set an exam time. Pearson directs international centers to its separate international exam start-time guidance. Candidates outside the UK should follow the time issued by their own center.
Can an exam center change the published start time?
Yes, within limits for UK centers. Pearson allows a center to start a morning paper between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., or an afternoon paper between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m., without asking for prior approval. A change outside those windows requires Pearson’s prior written approval, except for arrangements made to handle timetable clashes. The center is responsible for informing affected candidates if it changes a start time.
This is why a published “morning” label is not enough for exam-day planning. Check the date, subject, paper code, tier, and actual start time on the schedule issued by your school or college. If you have two exams in one session, Pearson says they should be taken consecutively; the center may provide a supervised break between them.
How should you use the timetable to plan?
- Confirm that your exam board is Pearson Edexcel and match each subject to its qualification and paper code.
- Copy every paper date into your calendar, including the separate dates for each Mathematics and science paper.
- Mark morning and afternoon sessions, but use your center’s notice for the exact start time and arrival instructions.
- Check again for center updates, especially if you have a timetable clash or more than one paper in a session.
- Use the full Pearson PDF for subjects not listed in the summary table; it also includes durations, tiers, and the subject index.
The final PDF is an exam timetable, not a student-specific timetable or a results calendar. If your entry details do not match a listed code, or you need a date for results or a center-arranged assessment, ask your school or college to confirm which official schedule applies.
