GCSE November 2026 Dates: WJEC, Eduqas and Eligibility
Updated October 23, 2026: The final WJEC and Eduqas timetable places GCSE examinations across November 2–11. The most important subject change is specific: legacy WJEC GCSE Mathematics–Numeracy has moved to January 2027, while the newer Made for Wales GCSE Mathematics and Numeracy still has unit exams in November. These are different qualifications and entry routes.
The timetable is for WJEC and Eduqas, not a single calendar for every GCSE exam board in the UK. Candidates should confirm the awarding body and specification printed on their entry confirmation before using these dates.

Exam times: GMT and UTC
All dates above are UK exam-center dates. The UK clocks go back on October 25, 2026, so the November examinations take place on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, UTC+00:00), not British Summer Time. The first listed paper, WJEC Made for Wales English Language and Literature Unit 1, is on Monday, November 2, in the morning. JCQ’s published start for a morning session is 9:00 a.m. GMT (09:00 UTC); an afternoon session starts at 1:30 p.m. GMT (13:30 UTC).
Those are published session starts, not a guarantee that every center starts at exactly those minutes. JCQ allows UK centers to begin up to 30 minutes earlier or later, within the permitted window of 8:30–9:30 a.m. for morning exams and 1:00–2:00 p.m. for afternoon exams. Candidates must be given the full exam duration. Use the personal timetable from your school or exam center for your room, tier, and actual start time.
Who is eligible to enter?
Eduqas English Language and Mathematics
For the November 2026 series, Eduqas GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics are available only to candidates who have reached age 16 on or before August 31, 2026. A candidate who turns 16 after that date does not meet this specific age rule for the November series. The published condition applies to these Eduqas qualifications; it should not be applied automatically to every WJEC paper.
Legacy WJEC English Language, Mathematics, and Welsh Language
The November timetable labels these legacy WJEC Wales papers as resit-only. The entry guide says the post-16 resit route is for candidates who previously cashed in the qualification before November 2026. It also permits certain post-16 learners without a previous entry to enter for final certification: adult learners, learners who have sat a 9–1 GCSE, and learners who were unable to sit the GCSE in Year 11 or earlier. These are specified exceptions, not a blanket open-entry rule. The guide points centers to WJEC Circular 151 for more detail, so candidates should ask their exams officer to confirm which exception and qualification code applies.
Made for Wales is a separate qualification route
The new Made for Wales GCSE specifications are unitized and first taught in 2025; the entry guide says their first awards are in June 2027. Their November 2026 units are therefore part of the new qualification pathway, not the legacy resit papers. The guide does not give these units the same general age-16 wording used for Eduqas GCSE English Language and Mathematics. Candidates should have their center check their registered specification, award type, unit, and eligibility rather than infer the rule from the subject name alone.
Why “Numeracy” needs a careful check
The phrase “Mathematics and Numeracy” appears in two different places. Legacy WJEC GCSE Mathematics–Numeracy (qualification code 3310) is not on the November 2026 timetable. WJEC moved its resit opportunity to January 2027 and June 2027, subject to demand; the January resit is limited to post-16 candidates who previously cashed in the qualification before January 2027. By contrast, the new Made for Wales GCSE Mathematics and Numeracy (code 3320) has Units 1, 2, and 3 scheduled on November 3, 6, and 11. Check the code and qualification title on the entry record so these routes are not confused.
Can a candidate still be entered?
As of October 23, WJEC’s published November-series entry deadline of October 4 and amendment deadline of October 16 have passed. The entry guide lists late fees from October 17 and very-late fees from November 1. That fee schedule does not guarantee that a center can accept a late entry in time for a particular paper. If a candidate is missing from the entry confirmation, contact the school, college, or exam center immediately and ask whether an entry is still possible for the specific qualification and date.
For access arrangements, WJEC’s October 2026 Exams Officer Noticeboard lists November 1 as the application deadline. Candidates who need an arrangement should raise it with their exams officer now. WJEC says its specification and process updates are issued as Portal circulars, with email notifications to exams officers; those circulars are the place to check for exceptions or later changes.
What to verify before exam day
Confirm whether your entry is Eduqas, legacy WJEC, or Made for Wales, and check the qualification code.
Match every paper or unit to the final timetable, including tier and morning or afternoon session.
Ask your exams officer to verify age or resit eligibility and any exception that may apply.
Use your center’s personal timetable for the actual start time and location; the standard session time can vary within JCQ rules.
If the subject is legacy GCSE Mathematics–Numeracy, check the January 2027 timetable instead of expecting a November paper.
