Players can collect up to 800 MP per day by walking or interacting with Power Spots, which are mostly associated with small companies. Max Battles, exclusive to Dynamax Pokémon, offer turn-based tactical gameplay with interesting rewards.

Players can also unlock powerful Max Moves like Max Strike, Max Guard, and Max Spirit with Max Particles & Pokémon Candy.

Power Spots and Max Particles

Guide to participating in Dynamax & Max battles in Pokemon Go

Power Spots are special locations on the map that allow Trainers to interact with Dynamax Pokémon and collect Max Particles (MP). Here's everything you need to know about Power Spots and how they work:

Identify Power Spots:

  • On the map : You can easily see Power Spots by the purple sign and the big "X" above.
  • Interact with Power Spots : When you are within range of a Power Spot, click on it to receive Max Particles.
  • Nearby Menu : Power Spots are listed in a new tab in your Nearby Menu, similar to how raid bosses are displayed.

Power Spots Features:

  • Points of Interest (POI) : Power Spots appear to be located at small businesses and other important points in the community.
  • Max Battles : Once fully active, you'll be able to complete Max Battles at Power Spots. In the future, Gigantamax Pokémon may also appear!
  • Volatile Locations : Power Spots emit Max Particles and they can move around, so it is important to stay alert and check your surroundings frequently.
  • Dynamax Activation : Power Points allow your Pokémon to reach Dynamax in battle.

Max Particle Sword (MP)

Max Particles are essential items for participating in Max Battles and upgrading Max Moves. You can collect them in the following ways:

Visit Power Point:

  • Each visit to the Power Point will reward you with 100 Max Particles.
  • Clicking on Power Point can also get a reward of 20 Max Particle.

Walk:

Walking 2 km will reward you with 300 Max Particles.

Daily Limit:

You can collect up to 800 Max Particles per day.

However, by visiting 6 Power Points and getting the 2km walk reward, you can earn up to 1020 Max Particles albeit with a small limit.

Max Particle Storage:

  • Max Particle Limit: Trainers can store up to 1000 Max Particles at any given time. Your current total can be viewed in the Power Points tab in the Nearby Menu.
  • Daily Collection: The game tells you how many Max Particles you have collected out of 1000 Particles and how much further you need to go to gain MP while walking.

Collect Max Particle:

  • First Time Reward : Additional Max Particle is awarded the first time you interact with it each day.
  • Adventure Sync: Trainers can also collect Max Particles while exploring the world through Adventure Sync.
  • In-game Store: Max Particle can also be purchased from the in-game store or web store through special packages.

Max Battle Mechanics

Guide to participating in Dynamax & Max battles in Pokemon Go

Once you have Max Particles, the best option is to use them in Max Battles! Only Dynamax Pokémon can participate in Max Battles. Your first Dynamax Pokémon will be awarded through Special Research, and it is Dynamax Wooloo! You can encounter another Dynamax Wooloo by walking 2 km and receiving 300 MP.

Max Battles follows a simple set of rules designed for a dynamic gameplay experience. Here's how they work:

Team Setup

  • You can challenge Max Battle with up to 4 players, including yourself.
  • Each player can bring up to 3 Dynamax Pokémon into battle, although you can only join one person at a time.
  • Only Dynamax Pokémon are allowed to participate—regular Pokémon are not eligible.

Gameplay Mechanics

Turn-Based System: Unlike Raid or GO Battle League, Max Battles is turn-based. You will need to strategize accordingly.

Attack: Tap the screen to Quick Attack, which generates energy for Charged Attack. This also fills the meter at the top of your screen.

Max Particle

Cost: 250 Max Particle (MP) is required to participate in a 1-star Max Battle. However, Max Particle is only consumed if you successfully defeat the Power Spot Boss.

Requirement: Each Trainer must contribute a certain number of Max Particles to start the battle, based on the Power Spot Boss's strength.

Battle Strategy

  • Target : When you see three lines above the Pokémon's head, it means the Pokémon is being targeted by a Max Battle Boss. You can avoid damage by swiping your Pokémon to Dynamax.
  • Max Meter: When you battle, keep an eye on the Max Meter. When it's full, your Pokémon will automatically Dynamax for 3 turns.
  • Max Moves : When your Pokémon Dynamaxes, you'll have access to the Max Moves that have been unlocked. If you're fighting a boss with higher difficulty levels with others, coordinate your moves, shields, and mental attacks to maximize effectiveness.
  • Collect Energy: Swipe to collect energy icons that appear in battle to fill the Maximum Energy Meter faster.

Fainting and Team Support

If all of your Pokémon faint during a battle with a 3-star (or higher) Power Spot Boss, you can still support your teammates by cheering them on. This will help their energy gauges fill up faster.

Additional Features

  • Post-Battle Reward: After defeating a Power Spot Boss, you can leave a Pokémon from your Battle Team at that Power Spot. This helps other Trainers earn Candy and Damage Rewards.
  • Pokémon Count : The trophy icon in the upper right corner of the initial screen shows how many Pokémon are left at the Energy Point.
  • Wild Encounter : In the bottom left corner of the initial screen, you'll find a free wild encounter, although it won't be a Dynamax Pokémon.
  • Booster Rewards : You can earn additional rewards by spending 100 PokéCoins after defeating a Power Spot Boss.
  • Experience Points : Completing Max Battle 1 star will reward you with 5000 XP.

Time and limits

  • Lobby Timer: The battle lobby is timed at 120 seconds, although the time can be shortened by using the "Ready" button or when the lobby is full.
  • No Time Limit : Max Battle itself has no time limit.
  • Master Ball Restrictions : You cannot use the Master Ball to catch Dynamax Pokémon at this time.
  • Ending Condition : Max Battle ends when the Power Spot Boss is defeated or all of your Pokémon faint.

Difficulty

  • Max Battle 1 star : These battles are usually easy to solo.
  • Max Battle 3 stars : Hard to solo, but possible

Leave Pokémon at Power Spot

Guide to participating in Dynamax & Max battles in Pokemon Go

After defeating a Power Spot boss, you can leave one of your Pokémon from your Battle Party at the Power Spot. This allows other trainers to benefit from your Pokémon's presence, earning Candy and bonus damage for themselves.

How it works

Damage Bonus Level: Damage boosts are given to other trainers based on the number of Pokémon remaining at the Power Spot. Damage boosts are divided into four categories:

  • First damage increase: 1 Pokémon at Power Spot.
  • Second damage increase: 2-3 Pokémon.
  • Third damage increase: 4-14 Pokémon.
  • Fourth damage increase: 15-20 Pokémon.

Returns and rewards: When your Pokémon returns from the Power Spot, you'll receive a reward based on how useful it was to other trainers in battles.

Candy Rewards

  • Recall Pokémon : You can withdraw your Pokémon from the Power Spot at any time.
  • Closing the Power Spot : When the Power Spot closes, your Pokémon will automatically return to you and you will earn Candy.
  • Max Battle : Your Pokémon can also earn Candy after completing a certain number of max battles while standing at a Power Spot.

Max Moves and Dynamax Pokémon

Dynamax is a unique phenomenon where a Pokémon grows significantly larger, surrounded by a mysterious red light and swirling clouds. Pokémon capable of Dynamaxing can be encountered, battled, and caught through Max Battles.

Find Dynamax Pokémon

  • Power Spots: Dynamax Pokémon can be found in the wild at Power Spots, scattered throughout the map.
  • Encounter Screen: Catching a Dynamax Pokémon from a Power Spot will provide a special encounter screen, similar to the Dynamax Raid capture screen in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Max Moves

Dynamax Pokémon can use powerful Max Moves that provide offensive, defensive, and healing benefits:

  • Max Strike: A special attack unique to Dynamax Pokémon, with power and type changing based on their Fast Attack type.
  • Max Guard: A protective move that reduces damage from opponents.
  • Max Spirit: A healing attack that restores HP to both yourself and allies.
