Hypnose Lancome mascara: anniversary contest

Lancome celebrates 10 years of magnetic gazes with its iconic Hypnose mascara, which this year celebrates its tenth successful year in the world of beauty with a special event at La Rinascente in Milan.

At the Design Supermarket de LaRinascente in Piazza Duomo, Lancome and Elle Decor Italia have in fact awarded in recent days the winner of the first edition of the Lancome Design Award, born from the collaboration between Elle Decor Italia and Lancôme, a special contest with the common intention of celebrating the 10th anniversary of Hypnose mascara.

Federico Angi, Daniele Bortotto + Giorgia Zanellato, Tania da Cruz, Antonio Forteleoni, Ilaria Innocenti, Charlotte Juillard, Francesco Meda, Chiara Onida, Jan Plechac & Henry Wielgus and Florian Schmid, 10 young designers all under 35, were invited to discuss freely with an intriguing theme: creating an iconic work capable of interpreting the power of gaze and hypnosis.

The creativity of all the young designers was expressed consistently with respect to the statement, surprising not only for the high quality of the prototypes created, but above all for how the concepts of gaze and hypnosis were expressed. In fact, every single object reveals a precise sensitivity of its author , so personal as to make it unique. A lamp, a pendulum, a necklace, a mirror: beyond typology, the expressive force of a thought that becomes concrete. Which becomes history, the story of a reflection that revolves around a small object as small as a mascara. 

Lou, the brass table mirror by German designer Florian Schmid, won the Lancome Design Award 2014 . The Jury, composed of Livia Peraldo Matton, Paola Carimati, Flora Coluccia and Ulrika Wikstrom saw the participation of a guest of honor: the Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc, an internationally renowned designer, whose creative sensibility is expressed through an elegant sign that it communicates well with the values ​​of the Lancome brand.

The jurors rewarded the simplicity of a precious object like a jewel: Lou not only spontaneously interprets the concept of hypnosis, the brief launched by the contest, but with intuition ennobles the industrial nature of an anonymous sheet of metal . Florian has in fact paid particular attention to the care of the finishes: the front part is polished and mirrored (slightly inclined to facilitate make-up operations) and the back part is satin. In the base (which has a supporting function) the development of the project theme: the undulating detail is inspired by the movement of the sea waves , a perpetual and therefore hypnotic movement in itself.

The designer also deserves credit for having created a work that can be reproduced on an industrial scale, with consistency with the principles of the discipline of Design. The winning project of the first edition of the Lancôme Design Award will be the protagonist of the setting up of the Lancome space in Rinascente, at the Design Supermarket (floor -1) from 25 September to 18 October. From Milan to Rome: the 10 works will then be exhibited at Maxxi, the National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome (from 18 November 2014 to 6 January 2015) at the same time as the Be Original exhibition by Elle Decor Italia and subsequently auctioned. The proceeds will then be donated to charity.

At the same time as celebrating the 10th birthday of Hypnose mascara , Lancome is also celebrating the arrival on the market of the incredible Grandiose mascara, with a 'swan neck' stem, an absolute novelty of great class.
