Instructions for creating a Threads account, Metas latest social network

Meta has officially launched the social network Threads, which is considered a "formidable" competitor to Twitter. Threads works similarly to Twitter, sharing your status as text, replying to other accounts, or you can like and repost other people's content. In particular, Threads allows Instagram users to follow the same account on Threads, thereby increasing the number of followers faster. Below are detailed instructions for registering for the social network Threads.

How to create a new Threads account

Step 1:

We download the Threads application for phones from the link below.

• Download Threads app for iOS

Step 2:

Then when you access the Threads application, you will be asked to log in with the Instagram account that we are using on the phone. If you want to log in with another Instagram account , click Switch account .

Step 3:

Next, click Log in to another Instagram account , then enter the Instagram account you want to use for Threads.

Step 4:

The Threads account information interface appears . To speed things up, you can tap Import from Instagram. The Threads account name cannot be changed because it is synchronized with the Instagram account.

Step 5:

Next, we click on the circle icon to set the avatar for the Threads account , you can also get the Instagram account avatar or upload a new photo.

Note, due to syncing with your Instagram account, if you want to delete your profile and data on Threads, you will have to delete your Instagram account .

Step 6;

Next, you choose the type of account, personal or public, for Threads . Switch to the new interface, you choose the person you want to follow on Threads synchronized from the Instagram account you followed.

Finally, click Join Threads to complete the Threads registration process.

Step 7:

Below is the Home interface on the Threads app. Tap the person icon to access your personal Threads interface .

Now you proceed to click to follow the Threads account that you want to display.

How to use Threads

Threads is quite similar to Twitter. However, Threads and Twitter don’t work in the same way. Once you’ve set up your Threads account and are ready to submit your first post, here’s how you can do it.

How to create a post on Threads

To create a Threads post, follow these steps:

1. From anywhere in the Threads app, simply tap the Create icon in the bottom center of the screen to bring up the Thread creation screen.

2. Start typing in the text area. If your text doesn't fit in the text area, simply tap Add to thread to create a new text block. Each Threads post has a 500 character limit.

3. Tap Anyone can reply in the bottom left corner of the Thread creation screen to choose who can reply to your Threads. You can limit replies to people you follow, people you mention, or leave it open to anyone as the default option.

4. Tap Publish in the bottom right corner to publish your post.

How to change username and profile picture on Threads

If you want to change your Threads username or profile picture, there is currently no way to do that independently on the app itself. Since your Threads profile is linked to your Instagram account, you will need to change your Instagram username or change your profile picture on Instagram to achieve the same change on Threads.

How to follow and unfollow users on Threads

Once you join Threads, your timeline can feel a little out of place. You might be bombarded with the same crowd of people you interact with on Instagram, making it feel like “old wine in new bottles.” Or, you might be dealing with too many unfamiliar accounts. Of course, there’s a way around this—follow more accounts that you want to see on your timeline.

To follow accounts on Threads:

1. Tap the search icon at the bottom of your screen

2. Follow any account listed on the search page or type in the name of any account you want to follow to search and follow that account.
