In Windows 11 build 22635.4950 and 27818.1000, Microsoft introduced a new drag and drop feature, which displays a convenient tray at the top of the screen that allows you to easily drop files into one of the displayed applications. Users can enable this feature through the ViVeTool command or download supporting software. Here are instructions for enabling Windows 11 file drag and drop feature.
How to enable file drag and drop on Windows 11
Step 1:
First, download the ViVeTool tool to your computer according to the instructions below.
Step 2:
Then, open ViVeTool using Command Prompt or Windows Terminal. Run the command below to turn it on and restart your computer.
vivetool /enable /id:45624564,53397005
Step 3:
After your computer restarts, you can share files by dragging from File Explorer or the desktop to the sharing tray at the top of the screen.
We select a file and start dragging it to the top of the screen to bring up the share tray.

Step 4:
Select one of the apps you want to use to share the file in the share tray. Or you can tap More to expand the file sharing app.

A new drag tray interface appears at the top of the screen when dragging local files from File Explorer or the desktop.
