Insert a picture from a file on your computer into PowerPoint
1. Select the Insert tab , and then click the Pictures command in the Images group .
2. A dialog box will appear. Locate and select the desired image file, then click Insert .
3. This image will appear on the currently selected slide.
You can also click Pictures in a placeholder to insert an image.
Insert online photos into PowerPoint
If you don't have the pictures you want on your computer, you can find pictures online to add to your presentation. PowerPoint offers two options for finding images online.
Bing Image Search: You can use this option to search for images on the Internet. By default, Bing only shows images licensed by Creative Commons. That means you can use them for personal projects. However, you should go to the web containing the image to see if there are any restrictions on how it can be used.
OneDrive: You can insert pictures saved on OneDrive. You can also link other online accounts with Microsoft, such as Facebook or Flickr.
To insert web images into PowerPoint
1. Select the Insert tab > click Online Pictures .
2. The Insert Pictures dialog box will appear.
3. Select Bing Image Search or OneDrive . In this example, the article will use the image search engine on Bing.
4. Press the Enter key . The search results will appear in the dialog box.
5. Select the picture you want, then click Insert .
6. The image will appear on the currently selected slide.
You can also click Online Pictures in a placeholder to insert an online picture.
When adding photos, videos, and music to your own projects, it's important to make sure you have the legal right to use them. Most images you buy or download online are copyrighted. Therefore, you may not be allowed to use them for free.
Move and resize pictures in PowerPoint
After inserting a picture into PowerPoint, you may want to move it to another location on the slide or change its size. Organizing photos in PowerPoint is extremely easy.
To select a photo
Before you can edit an image, you need to click on it to select it. A solid line will appear around the selected image.
To resize an image
Click and drag the angle icons until the image is the desired size.
The angled icons will resize the image but keep the original aspect ratio. If you use the resizing tool next to it, the image will be distorted.
To rotate the photo
Click & drag the arrow on the image to rotate it right or left.
Hold Shift on the keyboard while rotating the image to increase the angles by 15.
To move photos
Click and drag to move the image to a new position on the slide.
To delete photos
Select the photo you want to delete, then press the Backspace or Delete key on your keyboard.
You can even access a wider selection of image formats from the Format tab .
Insert a screenshot into PowerPoint
You can take screenshots of most open programs, webs, or windows. PowerPoint makes it easy to insert a snapshot of the entire window or part of an open window into your presentation.
To insert a screenshot of a window
1. Select Insert > click Screenshot in the Images group .
2. Available Windows from the desktop will appear. Select the window you want to capture as an image inserted into PowerPoint.
3. The screenshot will appear on the currently selected slide.
To insert an image cropping part of the screen
1. Select Insert > click Screenshot > Screen Clipping .
2. A viewer of other open windows will appear. Click & drag to select the area you want to capture.
3. The image will appear on the currently selected slide.
