Lloyds Banking Group Branch Closures: Check Your Local Branch and Find Alternatives

Checked October 27, 2026: To find out whether your Lloyds Banking Group branch is closing, check the official closure page for the brand on the sign, then search the exact address in that brand’s branch finder. Compare the branch name and postcode, read the listed closure date and customer notice, and check nearby locations before making plans. A headline about “Lloyds closures” may include Lloyds Bank, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland sites, so confirm the brand and address rather than relying on a shared or reposted list.

Lloyds Banking Group currently provides separate official closure information for Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland. The dates and branch entries can change, so check the page again before traveling or arranging a banking task.

How to check whether your local branch is closing

  1. Identify the brand and exact branch. Start with the logo on your card or the branch sign: Lloyds Bank, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland. Search the closure list by branch name and confirm the street address and postcode. In larger towns, more than one location may have a similar name.
  2. Open the matching branch page. Search by address, town, or postcode in the relevant Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland locator. Check the current status, opening hours, address, and listed facilities. If the location is marked for closure, note the specific date and whether it is still open now.
  3. Read the branch review. The group’s closure pages link to a Part 1 review explaining how the decision was made. A Part 2 review summarizes feedback from local conversations and is made available two weeks before closure. These documents may also point to a Banking Hub, cash deposit service, or Community Banker provision in the area.
  4. Check the alternative before visiting. A nearby branch, Post Office, ATM, or Banking Hub may cover some tasks but not all. Confirm that the specific place supports what you need and check its hours, access, and any transaction limits.

There is an additional detail for Halifax customers. As of this check, Halifax says its brand is changing to Lloyds and that most Halifax branches will either be rebranded as Lloyds or customers will be served by an existing Lloyds branch in the community. A change to a Halifax sign does not automatically mean that the physical site is closing. Read the notice for your exact branch and check the branch locator for the replacement location or closure date.

Post Office banking

For Lloyds personal current accounts, a Post Office can provide several basic in-person services. Lloyds says customers can use a debit card and PIN to check a balance, deposit cash, deposit checks, or withdraw up to £300 per day in cash for free. The withdrawal allowance is a daily maximum, not a promise that every account can withdraw that amount; your account’s own limits still apply.

For a check deposit, Lloyds says customers need a special envelope and a preprinted paying-in slip. The Post Office has envelopes, but Lloyds says the paying-in slip must be ordered or collected through the bank. If you are depositing cash, ask the Post Office about its local maximum before taking a large amount. The counter is useful for everyday transactions, but it will not replace every service available from a Lloyds employee or a full branch.

Banking Hubs and Community Bankers

A Banking Hub is a shared face-to-face location operated by the Post Office and used by customers of participating banks. Its counter can handle regular cash services such as paying in cash or checks, withdrawing cash, and checking a balance. Cash Access UK lists standard weekday hours as 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but hours can vary by location, so check the individual hub page before traveling.

For a more complicated account question, look for the Community Banker schedule. A bank representative is available on designated days, rather than every day the hub counter is open. Lloyds says its Community Bankers can help with account support, personal details, cards and PINs, payments, online banking, and some life-event support. Halifax and Bank of Scotland personal customers may also be able to get service through group co-servicing; confirm that the particular banker can handle your request.

Search the Cash Access UK hub list for each site’s hours and participating Community Banker days. You can also use LINK’s Cash Locator to look for nearby cash services. A Banking Hub is a banking counter, not a full Post Office: it does not provide unrelated Post Office services such as postage or foreign currency.

Cash machines, other branches, and digital banking

Lloyds Community Cash In & Out machines can accept cash deposits and provide cash withdrawals, PIN services, and balance inquiries. Lloyds says these machines are free to use and available around the clock at their listed locations. They accept banknotes, not coins or checks, so they are a better fit for someone who wants to deposit notes than for someone carrying a check or loose change. Check the Lloyds locator to find a machine and its services.

For personal accounts, Lloyds says customers can use branches across the Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland network to manage accounts. Co-servicing also lets eligible customers view and manage group accounts through Lloyds app, online banking, or telephone banking. Branch facilities still vary, so confirm the opening time and service at the destination branch. Routine tasks such as checking transactions, paying bills, and transferring money may be easier online, but a digital option is useful only if you can access it and it supports the task.

If you rely on cash or need face-to-face help, compare the full journey—not just the distance on a map. Check public transport, step-free access, opening days, and whether the alternative accepts the transaction you make regularly. If there is no suitable service nearby, LINK publishes local cash-access assessments after a branch closure and when communities request a review. Its assessment page can be searched by local area, country or region, or bank. A review may recommend new services, but do not assume a hub will open until the location is confirmed.

Official links to check before you go

Before leaving home, check the branch or service provider’s official page again. Opening times and closure dates can change, and an alternative location may not offer the counter service you need.
