Lost the AirPods? With the latest firmware it is possible to find the AirPods again. Finally, Apple has included this long-awaited feature to find the lost Bluetooth wireless headphones. You can also do this with the Find My app for AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.

How quickly it can happen that the small wireless Bluetooth headphones are lost or put somewhere where they cannot be found again.
With the October 2021 firmware update (4A400) , Apple has added the ability to find AirPods Pro or AirPods Max again.
The lost AirPods, AirPods Pro or AirPods Max can be displayed on the map and with the help of an acoustic signal it is now possible to quickly find them again.
How to check if the new version is installed
To use the new feature, make sure your AirPods have the latest update installed. Eg for AirPods Pro the version 4A400 should be present.
- Launch Settings on your iPhone
- Tap Bluetooth
- All connected Bluetooth devices are displayed. (AirPods or Apple Watch )
- Next to the existing AirPods, tap the "i"
- You receive information about the Bluetooth headphones, e.g. B. Model name, serial number and much more, next to the version you can see the current firmware.

If you do not have the current version installed, unfortunately there is nothing else to do but wait and see. Unfortunately, it is not possible to install a firmware update manually. Apple does it by itself.
Tip: Always keep your iPhone up to date and install the latest update.
Locate AirPods on iPhone with Find My app
To view the location of AirPods , AirPods Pro , or AirPods Max on a map with the Find My app, all devices must be connected to your Apple ID. Here's how to find AirPods again.
View your AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max on your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch. That's how it's done
- Launch the Find My app “ eg on your iPhone.
- Select the "Devices" tab .
- All existing devices are now displayed. Select on your AirPods .
- You will now be shown where the AirPods are located. Here you have the option of playing a sound or finding the headphones with a route .

Play a sound to find the AirPods
If you lost your AirPods but they are near one of your Apple devices and connected to Bluetooth, you can play a sound. So you can find the small wireless Bluetooth headphones very quickly.
The audio on your AirPods will play for two minutes. The sound gets louder and louder.
- Launch the Find My app on your iPhone.
- Select "Devices" at the bottom .
- Select your AirPods from the list.
- Tap Play Sound.
Find AirPods with computer
You have the option of using the computer to locate the AirPods, AirPods Pro or AirPods Max
- Launch your browser and visit iCloud.com/find
- Log in with your Apple login data
- Click All Devices at the top, then click AirPods
- The current location is now displayed here.

When the AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max are offline
It may happen that the devices AirPods, AirPods Pro or AirPods Max as
be displayed offline. The location of your AirPods or AirPods Pro cannot then be displayed, even if they are in the charging case.
If it says "No location found" or "Offline," they're out of range or need to be charged. The last known location may then be displayed.
Lost a single AirPod
It may happen that you have lost one of the two AiPod. If you are not lucky with your search, you have the option to purchase both the left and right wireless headphones separately. The price for a single pair of headphones is around €100 for AirPods Pro and around €75 for AirPods.
