Assistive medical devices during a normal delivery
Sometimes in the delivery room, doctors use certain instruments that look very foreign to mothers. Birth aids can stress the mother. However, without fear, join us in decoding the secrets of these birth control devices. You will find them very useful.
Amniocentesis
Normal birth support device - amniocentesis
This device is used in the early stages of labor. If the amniotic sac does not rupture on its own, the doctor will use an amniocentesis to puncture the amniotic sac. You may feel a bit uncomfortable, but the feeling of your ruptured amniotic sac will overwhelm. And sometimes I don't know when the doctor used this assistive device.
Platen clamp
Normal birth aid - platypus clamp
As old friends the woman we all know (remember all the gynecological exams) used to widen the vagina. This way the doctor can observe the opening of the cervix.
Clamp forcep
Normal birth support devices - forceps clamp
The forcep clip is depicted as two interlocking metal pieces with a clip-like texture, but enlarged. This clip is used by the doctor to hold the baby's head by fixing the two clamps on the sides of the baby's head, and pull the baby out from the vaginal canal.
The forceps are used to help bring the baby out when the baby is in the middle or at the vaginal opening but the mother no longer has the strength to push, or needs to be removed immediately because of fetal failure.
Vacuum sensing
Normal delivery aids - suction cups
In case the mother needs support, the obstetrician will capture the baby's head still in the vulva a rubber or metal cup-shaped device, connected to a vacuum cleaner. When the machine works, it will create a suction force (suck out the air to keep the cup and head of the fetus, create a vacuum, put pressure on the fetal head). While mom is trying to push the doctor will simultaneously pull the suction cup to make the baby go out easier.
Scissors
Ordinary support equipment - scissors
Your baby's mother will probably come across a few different scissors in the delivery room. A pair will be used to cut the umbilical cord. Another one will be used if you need episiotomy. In that case, the doctor will have to cut into the perineum (the area between the vagina and anus) to help the baby come out.
Clamp to stop bleeding
Normal delivery aids - hemostatic clamps
This clamp may look a lot like a pair of scissors, but it doesn't have a sharp blade. Instead of cutting, it is used to stop bleeding, hold sutures and most importantly, clamp the umbilical cord before cutting.
Gauze clamp
Normal birth support device - clamp gauze
The clamp with 2 round or heart-shaped ends is now used to clamp bleeding cotton swabs, this is an indispensable device in the delivery room.
Lancet
You can see that the doctor has prepared this device, but will not use it unless you have a cesarean section.
