The iPhone is Apple's success story. Every year, around autumn, the new models appear. Storage capacity ranges from 16GB to 256GB. If you have a 16 GB, like me, you will notice that the storage space is not enough. Unfortunately, Apple hasn't built in a way for us to expand the storage space with a microSD, for example. So there is nothing left but to delete the apps that we no longer use often and save the images and photos to an external hard drive. Of course you can use 5 GB for free with iCoud and if it's not enough you can buy additional cloud storage. Here are a few tips on how to free up disk space:
Free up iPhone space
Reboot iPhone
When was the last time you restarted your iPhone? Restarting the iPhone can help free up some storage space. To restart iPhone, press the Power button until the Power off button appears.
Manage iPhone storage
Before you start deleting now, look under the iPhone settings which apps use how much storage space:
Tap Settings > General > Storage & Manage

A list will appear showing how much space each app takes up on your iPhone. (the apps using the most memory appear at the top). Most of the time, the photos and videos take up the most memory, as they do for me.
Now you can start dumping the images from the Photos app, e.g. uploading them to an external hard drive or cloud iClod, onDrive, Google Photos, etc. would be an option.
Reinstall apps
If you check out the Manage Storage section above, you'll notice that a few apps are taking up a lot of storage space. For example, the Facebook app after a long time use has reached over 500 MB in size, although the app is several MB in size. In this case, it is recommended to uninstall and reinstall the app. To uninstall an app, press the desired app on the home screen until it starts to shake. If you now press the cross, the desired app will be uninstalled.
Set up iPhone again
Another way to free up space on your iPhone is when you set up the iPhone again. That means everything is erased and rebuilt from scratch.
Before continuing here, it is recommended to create a backup with iTunes or with iCloud.
Tap Settings > General . Scroll all the way down and tap Reset. With the Erase Contents and Settings option, all iPhone content will be erased.
Now when you connect your iPhone to iTunes, you will be suggested to restore iPhone from backup. Here is a reinstallation and reinstalls all apps.
I know this method is tedious and exhausting and it also takes a long time to get everything back to how it used to be.
Free up disk space via itunes store
Another tip on how to free up disk space. Start iTunes on your iPhone and search for a movie from eg Lord of the Rings
Click Buy

After a short time you will get the message that there is no free space on the iPhone and the whole thing will be canceled.

If you now check the used memory, you will see that you have more MB available.
