Warwick Victorian Evening 2026: Hours, Lights, and Road Closures
Warwick Victorian Evening 2026: Hours, Lights, and Road Closures
Warwick Victorian Evening is set for November 26
Warwick’s Victorian Evening returns on Thursday, November 26, 2026. The free event is scheduled for 3:00–9:00 p.m. in Warwick, GMT (UTC+00:00), with its Christmas lights switch-on at 7:00 p.m. GMT (UTC+00:00), or 19:00 UTC. The main event area is Market Place, Warwick, CV34 4SA, with stalls, rides, and entertainers extending into nearby streets. St Mary’s Church is also scheduled to host a Christmas tree display featuring more than 50 trees and a short carol service.
Because the event is on November 26, the town will be on Greenwich Mean Time, not British Summer Time. The UK clocks go back on October 25, 2026, and the government says the UK is on GMT after the change. Warwick’s scheduled 7:00 p.m. lighting time therefore matches 19:00 UTC. Visitors coordinating from another time zone can use that UTC time as their reference, then convert for their location on November 26.
Market stalls and Christmas lights frame a historic English market square at dusk.
Visiting hours and the lighting schedule
Warwick District Council lists the event window as 3:00–9:00 p.m. Its seasonal announcement adds useful timing details: the Victorian market and town-center rides and entertainment begin at 3:00 p.m., stage performances start at 5:00 p.m., and the lights are due to switch on at 7:00 p.m. Visitors hoping to take part in the best Victorian costume competition should head to the stage at 7:30 p.m. The event listing says stage entertainment finishes at 9:00 p.m.; it currently marks the stage lineup as to be confirmed.

Arriving at 3:00 p.m. gives you the full six-hour window to browse the market, see the rides and street entertainers, visit the church display, and choose a place to watch the performances. That option suits visitors who want more than the lighting moment, but it also means spending longer in town. If the switch-on is your main goal, plan to arrive well before 7:00 p.m. so you have time to walk to Market Place and find your group. The official listing does not provide a confirmed stage lineup yet, so check it again if a particular performance is important to your plans.
Admission is free, so no event ticket is needed. The council page does not publish prices for individual rides, food, or market purchases; check with vendors before buying. The costume competition is a separate activity for visitors who want to dress up, rather than a requirement for attending the event.
Road closures cover much of the day
Expect town-center road restrictions before the event opens. Warwick District Council lists closures from 7:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. GMT (UTC+00:00) on Thursday, November 26. The affected streets are Northgate Street, Old Square, Church Street, New Street, Brook Street, Swan Street, Market Place, Market Street, The Woolpack, The Holloway, New Bridge Street, and Puckerings Lane. The council says access will be maintained to Swan Court from Swan Street.
That closure window starts eight hours before the market opens and runs until late evening, so do not plan to drive through Market Place or the listed streets to make a short stop near the stage. If you are meeting friends, agree on a pedestrian meeting point outside the closed area. Check the council event page before departure for any updates to the road list or access instructions, and allow extra walking time between parking and the square.
Which parking option fits your visit?
Warwick District Council says its off-street parking lots in Warwick will be free from 12:00 p.m. GMT (UTC+00:00) on November 26. This is the parking offer to consider if you plan to drive and want to avoid the council’s off-street fee. The waiver is limited to Warwick District Council-operated off-street locations; it does not mean every lot in town is free. The council notes that not all parking lots in the district are run by the district council.
On-street parking charges still apply. If you choose a street space, expect to pay the posted charge and follow any restrictions. For a lower-cost plan, select a council-operated off-street lot, check its approach against the closure list, and walk to Market Place. If you need to arrive before noon, check whether normal charges apply before the free period begins. If a privately operated lot is more convenient for your route, confirm its price and event-day access with that operator rather than assuming the council’s offer covers it.
The practical trade-off is between price, arrival time, and walking distance. The council’s off-street offer can reduce the parking cost for afternoon and evening visitors, while an on-street space may be closer to a specific destination but remains chargeable and may be affected by closures. The council parking page lists its locations and provides further details; use that information alongside the live event closure notice rather than choosing a lot based on distance alone.
