WJEC and Eduqas A-Level Exam Dates 2027: Final Timetable
WJEC and Eduqas A-Level Exam Dates 2027: Final Timetable
The final WJEC and Eduqas A-level exam timetable for summer 2027 places the main written papers between Monday, May 10, and Friday, June 18, 2027. The two qualifications share one combined WJEC timetable, but the paper codes and subject labels distinguish the Wales and Eduqas specifications. Check the exact code on your statement of entry and on your school or college timetable before planning around a date.

Key dates at a glance
Main written examination period: May 10–June 18, 2027.
Wales A2 Biology Unit 5 practical assessments: April 21–23, with April 22 used only by centers that cannot accommodate all candidates on the first day.
Contingency sessions: both sessions on Wednesday, June 23, 2027. Candidates should remain available through this date.
These dates come from WJEC’s document labeled “Wales and Eduqas Summer 2027 Final Examination Timetable.” It covers AS and A-level papers together. Not every candidate sits an exam on every date in the overall window, and subject routes have different components or units.
Selected WJEC and Eduqas A-level paper dates
The table below highlights three subject routes. It is a quick reference, not a replacement for the full timetable, which lists other subjects, paper durations, sessions, and additional code variants.

The timetable labels Wales papers as Wales subjects and Eduqas papers as Eduqas subjects; its original layout uses blue for Wales and orange for Eduqas, with A2/A-level papers in yellow boxes. Use the full paper code as well as the subject name: a Wales unit and an Eduqas component in a similarly named subject are not interchangeable. Some Eduqas qualifications are designated for use by centers in Wales, so the qualification label on your entry matters more than assumptions based on location.
Practical assessments can happen before the written timetable
The written-paper window does not capture every assessment. For example, Wales A2 Biology Unit 5 experimental testing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2027. A second test date, Thursday, April 22, is for centers that cannot fit all candidates on the first day; it is not an extra date that every student should expect to sit. The practical analysis task is scheduled for the morning of Friday, April 23.
Other assessments also have center-arranged windows. Wales A2 Drama Unit 3 and Eduqas A-level Drama Component 2 have an assessment window from January 11 through April 30, 2027. The listed French, German, and Spanish speaking assessments have a window from April 1 through May 20. A window is not an individual appointment: your center confirms the date, format, and any instructions that apply to your entry.
Exam session times in the UK
JCQ publishes standard starts of 9:00 a.m. for morning papers and 1:30 p.m. for afternoon papers, using UK time on the exam date. The United Kingdom will be on British Summer Time (BST, UTC+01:00) throughout the May and June written-paper period in 2027. That makes the standard starts 8:00 a.m. UTC and 12:30 p.m. UTC, respectively.
JCQ allows a UK center to start an exam up to 30 minutes earlier or later than the published session time under its rules. This flexibility and any timetable clash arrangements are managed by the center, with required supervision. Do not use the standard session start to guess your personal reporting time; follow the individual timetable issued by your exams officer.
How to verify your own timetable or a disruption
Open WJEC’s Key Dates and Timetables page and select the June 2027 GCE AS and A-level final timetable. Use the final version rather than an older provisional document.
Find your exact subject, qualification, and paper code. Confirm whether the row says Wales or Eduqas and whether it is AS, A2, or A-level.
Compare the date and morning/afternoon session with the personal timetable from your school or college. Ask the exams officer about arrival time, room, access arrangements, clashes, and any practical or speaking assessment appointment.
If two exams clash or your center reports a disruption, contact the exams officer promptly. WJEC says centers should manage clashes under JCQ instructions and maintain appropriate supervision when a timetable variation is made.
The WJEC timetable marks both sessions on Wednesday, June 23, 2027 as contingency sessions for national or significant local disruption. WJEC says candidates must remain available until that date in case its contingency plan is invoked. It is separate from the last scheduled written paper on June 18, so keep June 23 open until your center confirms otherwise.
