WJEC and Eduqas have published the final version 2 timetable for the Summer 2027 GCSE series. The document covers legacy WJEC units, Eduqas components, and newer Made for Wales units. WJEC says changes from the first published version are highlighted in yellow, so candidates should use version 2 and compare the exact qualification, paper code, tier, and session against their entry.

The main written papers begin Monday, May 10, and the last scheduled papers in the timetable fall on Friday, June 18. Wednesday, June 23 is reserved for morning and afternoon contingency sessions. Candidates should remain available through that date in case an awarding body activates the contingency plan. The official WJEC and Eduqas Summer 2027 GCSE timetable is the source for the codes and dates below.

Key dates by qualification route

These examples show why a date alone is not enough: similarly named subjects can belong to separate specifications, with different paper structures. The table lists selected high-demand subjects, not every GCSE on the full timetable.

DateRoute and paper codeWhat to check
Monday, May 10WJEC Computer Science Unit 1, 3460U10-1; Eduqas Computer Science Component 1, C500U10-1Both are scheduled in the morning. They are separate qualifications, not alternative codes for the same paper.

Tuesday, May 18Legacy WJEC Mathematics Unit 1: Foundation 3300U10-1, Intermediate 3300U30-1, Higher 3300U50-1The timetable labels these legacy entries resit only.

Monday, June 14Made for Wales Mathematics and Numeracy Double Award Unit 3: Foundation 3320U30-1, Higher 3320UC0-1The third unit completes a different route from Eduqas Mathematics.
Wednesday, June 23Contingency session, morning and afternoonKeep the full day available; the awarding bodies may use it if disruption requires a change.

The same timetable has separate legacy Welsh Language and Mathematics–Numeracy entries, also marked resit only. If one of those is your qualification, search the PDF by the full subject name and paper code rather than assuming it follows the newer Made for Wales Mathematics and Numeracy schedule.

Which route applies to a candidate?

Students generally sit the specification in which their school or exam center entered them. The route is determined by the qualification and the center’s approved provision, not by which calendar looks more convenient. WJEC GCSE qualifications are accredited by Qualifications Wales and are not available to centers in England. Eduqas GCSE qualifications are Ofqual-accredited and are not available to maintained centers in Wales, except for subjects designated by Qualifications Wales. That makes location and the school’s course entry important checks before comparing dates.

Legacy WJEC resits have entry limits

Some older WJEC GCSE papers remain on the summer schedule only for resits. The entry procedures for 2026–27 say that post-16 resit candidates for legacy English Language, Mathematics, and Welsh Language generally must have previously cashed in the qualification before November 2026. The document also lists exceptions for post-16 learners without a previous entry: adult learners, learners who have sat a 9–1 GCSE, and learners who were unable to sit the GCSE in Year 11 or earlier. The timetable’s “resit only” label is a signal to confirm eligibility; it is not an invitation for every candidate to enter.

The WJEC and Eduqas entry procedures and coding information, version 2 covers several examination series. Its separate age-16 statement for Eduqas English Language and Mathematics appears in the November 2026 section. Do not apply a rule from the wrong series; ask the exams officer to confirm the June 2027 entry code and any exception before assuming a candidate is eligible.

Start times, time zone, and timetable changes

For UK exams, JCQ’s standard starts are 9:00 a.m. for the morning session and 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon session. JCQ permits a center to start within 30 minutes before or after the published start, subject to supervision and security rules. On Monday, May 10, 2027, the UK is on British Summer Time, or BST (UTC+01:00): the standard 9:00 a.m. BST start is 08:00 UTC. The UK clocks move forward on March 28, 2027, before the summer examination period. For every paper, the candidate’s own timetable from the center takes precedence over a general online schedule.

Check the full paper code, tier, and morning or afternoon session on the candidate’s personal timetable. If a subject appears twice in a table row, the entries may be different tiers or qualifications. Ask the exam officer about clashes, access arrangements, or a possible mismatch as soon as it is spotted; centers manage timetable clashes under JCQ rules.

How to confirm the latest version

WJEC publishes final and provisional schedules on its Key Dates and Timetables page. Reopen the final version 2 PDF when planning, and look for the yellow highlights that mark changes from the first issue. WJEC says its specification and process updates are issued as circulars in the Key Information area of Portal; exams officers receive email notifications. Candidates should ask their center to check those circulars and any later timetable notice, especially if a paper code or session changes.

For the contingency date, center start arrangements, or a resit exception, use the center’s direct confirmation. The JCQ Instructions for Conducting Examinations set out published session starts and permitted variations, while WJEC’s Exams Officer Noticeboard explains how official circular updates are distributed. This helps keep a study plan tied to the candidate’s actual qualification rather than a timetable for a different WJEC or Eduqas route.
