If you are an iPhone and iOS enthusiast, you must have been following the development of classic game emulators for iPhone. There are many such emulators available for download on the App Store. These emulators allow you to play games from various gaming systems such as PS, PS2, Nintendo DS, Wii, Game Boy, Atari, Sega, NES, SNES, etc.
It seems like Apple is taking gaming on the iPhone more seriously these days. New reports suggest that the Cupertino giant is quietly developing a dedicated iOS game store for the iPhone.
According to 9to5mac, the iOS game store is expected to launch with the iOS 18 or iOS 19 update, and may integrate Game Center profiles, achievements, challenges, events, leaderboards, etc., from both the App Store and Apple Arcade. However, this game store is unlikely to be oriented by Apple to completely replace the existing Game Center. Notably, the new game store will contain various tabs, including a "Play Now" tab where users can find games, friends, etc. This tab is also where users can find editorial content and game recommendations.

Additionally, the Apple Game Store is expected to integrate FaceTime and iMessage, allowing for communication between players during ongoing gaming sessions. There's also an "App Clips" feature, which gives users easy access to small games that don't take up much in terms of resources or local storage. On the surface, the dedicated iOS game store functions much like the Xbox game app for iPhone, where players can see their status, their friends' activity, and find new games.
Apple Arcade is available as a subscription plan, giving iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV users access to games for $6.99 a month. With the launch of the iOS game store, Apple may want to highlight the iPhone's compelling gaming features, allowing users to take full advantage of the device's high-end hardware.
