Daytime Emmys 2026 Winners: General Hospitals Four Wins and the Full Story

Who won at the 2026 Daytime Emmys, and how did General Hospital do? If you are seeing old nominee lists or results from last year, the important distinction is that the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards took place on Friday, October 30, 2026. ABC's General Hospital won Outstanding Daytime Drama Series and three other competitive awards. Longtime cast member Genie Francis received a separate Lifetime Achievement Award.

The ceremony was held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The scheduled presentation began at 5:00 p.m. Los Angeles time, Pacific Daylight Time (PDT, UTC−07:00), on October 30, equivalent to 8:00 p.m. New York time, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT, UTC−04:00), and 00:00 UTC on Saturday, October 31. The event streamed through the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) rather than a traditional network broadcast.

2026 Daytime Emmy winners: the major results

These are selected confirmed winners across drama, talk, lifestyle, and production categories, not an exhaustive record of every award presented. Program names are followed by the winning performer where applicable.

The hairstyling and makeup award was shared by Beyond the Gates and The Kelly Clarkson Show. Another tie occurred in writing for a daytime nonfiction series, with Expedition Unknown and This Old House both recognized. Those ties matter when comparing program totals; each joint winner earned an award in its category.

How many Daytime Emmys did General Hospital win in 2026?

General Hospital won four competitive Daytime Emmys in 2026. Its victories were for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, Writing Team for a Daytime Drama Series, Casting for a Daytime Program, and Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series for Jeff Kober as Cyrus Renault. Counting only the headline drama-series trophy would understate the show's performance.

Best daytime drama: a milestone for the ABC soap

The top drama award was General Hospital's 19th win in the category and its sixth consecutive victory, according to reporting from the Associated Press following the ceremony. The ABC series prevailed over fellow nominees Beyond the Gates, Days of our Lives, and The Young and the Restless. Its continued success is notable because daytime drama awards evaluate individual eligibility periods rather than simply rewarding a show's total decades on air.

Writing and casting: recognition beyond the headline prize

Two of the show's four trophies recognized the collaborative work required to sustain an ongoing daytime serial. The writing honor went to its drama writing team; the casting award recognized the program's casting work. These awards should not be confused with individual acting categories. The results indicate that the recognition extended beyond the finished series to the people helping shape its stories and ensemble.

Jeff Kober won; other General Hospital acting nominees did not

Jeff Kober took Outstanding Guest Performance for playing Cyrus Renault. Other General Hospital performers were nominated in acting categories, including Steve Burton for lead actor, Amanda Setton for supporting actress, and Braedyn Bruner and Giovanni Mazza for emerging talent. Their nominations were achievements, but they were not wins in those categories. Scott Clifton, Beth Maitland, and Ambyr Michelle won the relevant awards instead.

Genie Francis received the Lifetime Achievement Award

Genie Francis, widely associated with her long-running role as Laura on General Hospital, was honored with NATAS's Lifetime Achievement Award. Francis first joined the soap in 1977, making the tribute a recognition of an almost five-decade association with daytime television. This was an honorary distinction awarded to Francis personally, not a fifth competitive award for the series. Keeping those counts separate avoids a common source of confusion when reading entertainment headlines.

What did the other soap operas win?

The night's results were not a clean sweep by the ABC drama. CBS's Beyond the Gates, in its first year of eligibility, won four awards. Tamara Tunie earned Lead Actress for her portrayal of Anita Williams Dupree, and Ambyr Michelle won Emerging Talent for Eva Thomas. The program also earned honors for lighting and a shared hairstyling-and-makeup prize. CBS described its combined network and syndication programs as earning 10 wins overall.

The Bold and the Beautiful won Lead Actor for Scott Clifton as Liam Spencer. Meanwhile, The Young and the Restless saw Beth Maitland recognized as Traci Abbott and Roger Howarth honored as Matt Clark, along with a costume-design award. Days of our Lives won for its directing team. The contrast is useful: General Hospital took the drama-series prize, but the lead and supporting acting wins were distributed among its competitors.

Talk shows, food programs, and other notable winners

The Kelly Clarkson Show won Outstanding Daytime Talk Series, while Sherri Shepherd won the talk-series-host award for Sherri. These are distinct categories: a show can take the program award without its host winning the individual hosting prize. Entertainment Tonight won the entertainment news category.

In food programming, Be My Guest with Ina Garten won Outstanding Culinary Instructional Series, and Garten also won for culinary hosting. Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross won the travel-and-adventure category, while Justice for the People with Judge Milian won the legal/courtroom honor. The range of winners is a reminder that the Daytime Emmys recognize much more than soap operas, including nonfiction, talk, production craft, and lifestyle programming.

Why some Daytime Emmys 2026 winner lists look different

Search results can mix 2026 nominees, winner updates posted while the ceremony was still underway, and stories about the 2025 awards. That can produce misleading totals or give the impression that someone who was nominated actually won. For this edition, check that the source identifies the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, held October 30, 2026; the 2025 event was the 52nd edition.

Another difference is whether a tally includes technical categories such as casting, lighting, and hairstyling. A story focused only on onstage drama and acting awards might list three General Hospital wins and overlook its casting trophy. A third is the distinction between a Lifetime Achievement honor and the show's competitive awards. The clearest accounting for General Hospital is four competitive wins, plus the personal lifetime honor for Genie Francis.

Be careful to distinguish the nominees page from a winners announcement.

The bottom line

General Hospital was a central winner at the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards: it captured the best daytime drama award, writing, casting, and Jeff Kober's guest-performance trophy. Genie Francis's Lifetime Achievement Award added a personal milestone for one of the show's best-known performers. But 2026 also brought important recognition for Beyond the Gates, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Days of our Lives. For the most accurate reading of the results, distinguish nominees from winners, competitive awards from honorary honors, and the 53rd ceremony from previous years.
