During Windows installation, incorrect regional configuration can lead to incorrect date and time formats for users. For example, in the United States, the month is written before the day, which can be confusing for users in other regions. Change format via Settings
Step 1:
You press the Windows + I key combination to open Settings on the computer. Then the user clicks on Time & language .

Step 2:
Looking at the content next to it, we click on Language & region to adjust the language and region on the computer.

Step 3:
Next, click on Regional format and select the current country from the displayed list.

Step 4:
Click the arrow icon to expand the settings, then click Change formats below.

Then we will adjust the date format in Short date as we like with the options below.

Change format via Control Panel
Step 1:
You press the Windows + R shortcut key then enter timedate.cpl in the Run interface that appears.

Step 2:
Display the date and time adjustment interface on Windows 11. We click on Change date and time in the interface.

Continue to click Change calendar settings to change the calendar settings on your computer.

Step 3:
First, at Format, the user chooses the format according to the country they want.

Then below Short date also choose the date and time format for you to set up your computer as you like.

Change date and time format on Windows 10
To change the date and time format displayed on Windows 10, follow these steps:
Step 1: First, enter the keyword change the date in the Search box on Windows 10. Then click Change the date and time format on the search results list.

Step 2: On the date and time format setting interface, you can choose different formats in the Short date, Long date, Short time and Long time sections.
- Short date: will display date/month/year in the form: 03/03/2021.
- Long date: will display day, date, month and year in the form: Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
- Short time: displays time including hour, minute, morning/afternoon: 08:28 AM.
- Long time: display hours, minutes, seconds, am/pm: 08:28:29 AM.

Also if you can't find the date and time format you want on the options list. For example, the options list only has the date and time format using slashes and you want to use the date and time format with dots. In this case, you can access the Control Panel interface to set the date and time format you want.

Step 3: To access the Control Panel interface, click the back arrow in the top left corner of the Settings interface.
You will now return to the Date & Time interface in Time & Language.

Step 4: On the Date & Time interface in the right frame, scroll down to find and click the Additional date, time, & regional settings link under Related settings.

Step 5: The Clock, Language, and Region interface will now appear on the screen.
Step 6: Here in the Region section in the right frame, click the Change date, time, or number formats link to open the Region dialog box.

Step 7: If you are using Windows 10 and 8.1, on the Region dialog box, select the Format tab , scroll down a bit and click Additional settings .

Step 8: On the Customize Format dialog box, click the Date tab .

Step 9: In the Date formats section, find the Short Date section, you can choose different formats, and can edit the date formats here.
Just enter the date format you want to use in the Short Date box. For example, month.day.year format.
Click the down arrow to select different formats such as MM.dd.yyyy,... For example 03.09.2016,...
After entering the format you want to use in the Short date box, click Apply .

You can also change the time format by clicking the Time tab . Enter the format you want to use in the Short Time box.

After setting up the date and time preferences, click OK to close the Customize Format dialog box.

Click OK to close the Region dialog box.

Click the X icon in the upper right corner to close the Control Panel and Settings window.
Now on the system tray on the Taskbar you can see the date format has been changed.

Change Date and Time Format Settings on Windows 7
To access the Date and Time settings interface on Windows 7, first click on the Start Menu button and enter the keyword change the date in the Search box.

Next, click the Change the date, time, or number format link in the search results list to open the Region dialog box.
