Microsoft is bringing annoying Windows 11 Start menu ads to Windows 10
Microsoft continues to announce plans to add new features to Windows 10, despite the fact that the operating system will inevitably die in October 2025. Sadly, one feature that was recently added to Windows 10 is actually one of the most annoying changes to come to the Windows 11 Start menu.
Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced something called “Account Manager” to Windows 11, which appears on screen when users click their profile picture on the Start menu. Instead of simply showing you buttons to sign out, lock your device, or switch profiles, the feature displays Microsoft 365 ads. All the actually useful access buttons are now hidden behind a sub-menu. Now, the much-criticized Account Manager feature is coming to Windows 10 users as well.
This change was spotted in the latest Windows 10 preview build from the Beta and Release Preview channels. The feature works the same way as it does on Windows 11 and is currently disabled by default, as the sub-menu with the sign out and lock buttons doesn't work.
If you want to try this change, update Windows 10 to build 19045.4842 and enable features 47988717,48433719 and 49453572 using the ViVeTool app.
Microsoft hasn’t officially announced the Account Manager feature for the general Windows 10 user base yet. But considering that the feature is already available in the stable release of Windows 11, you can be pretty sure it will eventually make its way to Windows 10.
