Microsoft today launched a new Windows app for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and web browsers, Android devices, and even Windows PCs . The Windows app is essentially a hub for streaming Windows from a variety of sources, including Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Remote Desktop, and more.
The unified app has been in beta for nearly a year and comes with a host of features like customizable home screens, multi-monitor support, and USB redirection, which allows users to use peripherals like webcams, storage drives, and printers as if they were connected directly to the cloud computer.

This Windows app is limited to Microsoft work and school accounts only, as it is primarily designed for users who have already used Remote Desktop clients on Windows and other operating systems to switch.
Microsoft has had similar apps for connecting remotely to computers for a long time, including Remote Desktop Connection — which is still built into Windows 11. These apps, including the new Windows app, are useful when connecting to a work computer from a laptop or personal PC.
However, there is no indication that Microsoft will support personal accounts with this new Windows app. Last year, it was revealed that Microsoft is pursuing a long-term goal of moving Windows entirely to the cloud to “deliver more advanced AI services and enhance users’ digital experiences.”
Windows users can download the Windows app from the Microsoft Store. It's also available on the App Store for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. The Android version of the app entered public preview today.
