Reddit Stock and Earnings: How to Read RDDTs Q3 2026 Results

Reddit (NYSE: RDDT) reported its third-quarter 2026 earnings on October 29, 2026. Revenue rose 53% year over year to $895 million and diluted earnings per share (EPS) reached $1.40. Yet U.S. daily active uniques declined 2%. The figures can all be true because they measure different things. To understand Reddit stock after an earnings announcement, read the sales, audience, profitability and outlook together rather than choosing a single headline.

This beginner-friendly guide uses Reddit's official October 29 earnings release covering the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Information was checked October 30, 2026. Historical results are not predictions or recommendations to trade RDDT.

What is RDDT, and what counts as an earnings report?

RDDT is the stock ticker for Reddit, Inc.'s Class A common stock listed on the New York Stock Exchange. An earnings report tells investors how a company performed during a specified period. Here, Q3 2026 means July 1 through September 30, 2026, not the day the company announced the results.

Reddit scheduled its third-quarter earnings conference call for October 29 at 4:30 p.m. New York, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT, UTC-04:00), or 20:30 UTC on that date. Its investor events page is the starting point for the webcast and related materials. The timing matters because the earnings release came after the U.S. regular trading session; a same-day closing price and an after-hours quote are not the same observation.

Numbers are rounded as Reddit presents them. “Year over year” compares Q3 2026 with Q3 2025. That is different from “quarter over quarter,” which would compare Q3 with Q2 2026. Never mix the two comparison periods in the same calculation.

Step 1: Understand where revenue comes from

Reddit generated roughly $895 million in revenue, up from $585 million in the year-earlier quarter. Advertising accounted for $847 million, with $48 million from other activities. As a result, advertising performance has an outsized influence on overall sales. If you are trying to understand whether growth can continue, ask whether advertising demand, pricing and the value Reddit delivers to advertisers can remain strong rather than assuming that more visitors automatically produce proportionally more revenue.

Next, compare geography. U.S. revenue was approximately $719 million, up 50%, while international revenue was $176 million, up 67%. International sales grew faster in percentage terms, but the U.S. accounted for a much larger dollar amount. A percentage increase and its contribution to total revenue are different measurements.

Step 2: Read audience growth and monetization together

DAUq stands for daily active uniques: Reddit's average number of unique people accessing its platform on a given day during the quarter. WAUq is weekly active uniques, the corresponding weekly audience measure. Reddit reported 515.2 million WAUq in Q3 2026, 16% higher than a year earlier. Neither metric means all those users are paying customers or spending every day on Reddit.

The geographic split is especially revealing. U.S. DAUq declined from 51.6 million to 50.7 million, while international DAUq increased from 64.4 million to 79.6 million, a 24% gain. Total users rose even though U.S. users declined. A beginner should write both observations down instead of allowing the global headline to obscure the regional trend.

Reddit also separates logged-in and logged-out users. Global logged-in DAUq was 53.5 million, up 7% year over year, versus 76.8 million logged-out DAUq, up 17%. Those audience groups may differ in engagement and advertising value. When reading the shareholder letter, look for management's discussion of direct visits, app usage, search referrals and returning users. A rise in overall traffic is not necessarily equivalent to a rise in deeply engaged users.

ARPU means average revenue per unique, a monetization measure rather than a subscription price. Global ARPU rose from $5.04 to $6.87. U.S. ARPU was $13.82, compared with $2.43 internationally. Higher revenue per user helps explain why Reddit could grow U.S. sales even while its U.S. daily audience slipped. ARPU does not establish profit per user, and it is not a dollar amount paid by each individual visitor.

Step 3: Separate GAAP profit from adjusted performance

Reddit reported $283 million in net income and $1.40 diluted EPS. These are figures under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the accounting rules used in U.S. financial reports. EPS divides earnings attributable to stockholders by an appropriate weighted-average share count. The diluted calculation incorporates potential dilution under accounting rules. It is not the current stock price.

The company also disclosed $402 million in adjusted EBITDA, an increase of 70% year over year. EBITDA means earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization; an “adjusted” EBITDA figure makes additional company-defined changes. It is non-GAAP, so the safest reading is to compare it with the GAAP results and inspect Reddit's reconciliation of the adjustments. The SEC's non-GAAP guidance explains why the definition and reconciliation are essential.

Cash flow provides another cross-check. Reddit reported $364 million of operating cash flow and $363 million in free cash flow for the quarter. Free cash flow is a non-GAAP measure in this release. Accounting profits and operating cash are not identical; compare several quarters of both before deciding whether a business consistently turns earnings into cash.

Step 4: Read the next-quarter guidance before interpreting the share price

Management's guidance is an estimate of future results, not the actual result and not a promise. Reddit forecast Q4 2026 revenue of $1.00 billion to $1.03 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $480 million to $510 million. Those ranges reflect management's assumptions at the time of the release and carry uncertainty.

To see whether a report exceeded expectations, compare the actual numbers against analyst consensus estimates established before the announcement, using the same accounting definition. A GAAP EPS result should not be compared casually against adjusted EPS expectations. Also check the forecast range against the expectations investors already had for the coming quarter. It is possible for a company to grow fast and report strong profits while its stock declines because the outlook or user trends fall short of what buyers had priced in.

One business question around this reporting period is the dependence of traffic on web search referrals versus direct and app engagement. Management commentary discussed pressure from changes in search-driven traffic. That makes the next report's audience mix and retention trends useful to monitor. A concern about traffic is a risk, not proof of an unavoidable future revenue decline.

Step 5: Interpret RDDT stock moves with the correct timestamp

Stock prices change throughout regular trading and may also move in premarket and after-hours sessions. When someone says “Reddit stock is up” or “RDDT crashed after earnings,” ask for the price, date, exact session and time zone. A price from the October 29 regular-session close is not the same as a quote from October 29 extended-hours trading or a price observed October 30.

For a consistent comparison, record the last closing price before the announcement, then choose a specific later trading time or closing price. Note whether the data is real-time or delayed. The share price responds to investor expectations about future growth, profitability and risk, not only the reported quarter. A sharp price movement following earnings does not, by itself, prove which single number caused it.

Valuation requires similar care. The market value of a company depends on its share price and shares outstanding, while quarterly revenue is a three-month amount. Dividing current market capitalization by one quarter of sales without explaining the time period produces a misleading price-to-sales comparison. Use consistent dates, share counts and annual or trailing-12-month financial measures.

How to check the original sources in five minutes

  1. Open the original Q3 2026 earnings release. Record the date, revenue, GAAP diluted EPS, net income, DAUq and management's outlook.
  2. Find the complete materials on the quarterly results hub. Review the shareholder letter and earnings call for management's explanation of audience trends.
  3. Consult Reddit's filing records. The SEC's guide to EDGAR explains that a Form 10-Q is a quarterly report containing unaudited financial statements and risk discussion, while Form 8-K addresses material events.
  4. Compare the same definitions. Match U.S. numbers with U.S. numbers, GAAP with GAAP and year-over-year changes with the same prior-year period.
  5. Check a timestamped RDDT stock quote separately. Do not treat an earnings table as a live market feed.

Mistakes to avoid with Reddit earnings

  • Confusing revenue with profit: $895 million in quarterly revenue does not mean Reddit earned $895 million after expenses.
  • Ignoring the audience split: global DAUq increased but U.S. DAUq decreased in the same quarter.
  • Treating ARPU as user spending: it is an aggregate measure of monetization, not an individual bill.
  • Equating adjusted EBITDA with net income: they follow different definitions.
  • Treating Q4 guidance as guaranteed: it is an estimate that can change.
  • Assuming an earnings beat guarantees a gain: future expectations and valuation also matter.
  • Quoting RDDT without a trading session: the same calendar date can have different regular and after-hours prices.

The useful conclusion

A balanced reading of Reddit's Q3 2026 numbers is that revenue, reported profits and monetization grew strongly, while U.S. daily audience trends and future traffic exposure deserve closer scrutiny. Neither side cancels the other. By following the company release, examining audience mix, understanding GAAP versus non-GAAP measures, and checking guidance before the stock chart, a newcomer can interpret the next RDDT earnings announcement with much greater confidence.
