10 tips you can do on Samsung Galaxy S21
Samsung's latest flagship is impressive, but there's more you can do with it than you might think. If this is your first Galaxy smartphone, you'll discover a lot of useful aspects of the device, plus the One UI 3.0 features have greatly improved the user experience.
In the article below, Quantrimang will introduce you to 10 tips for using Galaxy S21 that not everyone knows.
1. Watch Youtube Premium for free
Samsung and Google are offering Galaxy S21 users 4 months of free YouTube Premium. This offer is only available on the Samsung Galaxy S21 series including the S21, S21 Plus, or S21 Ultra.
This offer is only available to those who have never subscribed to YouTube Premium or have only subscribed to the service within the last 18 months.
To sign up for free, open the Youtube app on your Galaxy S21 phone to receive the offer.
2. Turn off the S21 phone with the side button
Turning off the Galaxy S21 isn't as simple as holding down the side button like on other phones. Instead, Samsung has assigned this action to a Bixby call feature. To turn off the Galaxy S21, you have to hold down the side button and the volume button at the same time for a few seconds. The power menu will appear and you can power off the device.
Additionally, you can reassign the Bixby button action to bring up the power menu when held down.
Open Settings > Advanced features > Side key .
From the Press and hold menu , select Power off menu .
3. Change to Navigation Gestures.
The Galaxy S21 still has a navigation bar in the bottom corner even though it's running Android 11 and One UI 3.1. However, you can switch to more flexible navigation gestures to enhance the experience.
Go to Settings > Display > Navigation bar .
Tap the Swipe getsures option to enable navigation gestures.
The navigation gestures on the Galaxy S21 work just like on the iPhone, and they make for great one-handed use once you get the hang of it.
Access the home screen by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
To view Recent Apps, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and press and hold on the screen for a moment.
To go back, swipe from the left or right edge of the screen.
4. Buy a phone charger
Samsung has not included a charger in the Galaxy S21 series for a number of environmental reasons. The debate over whether or not to remove the charger will continue, but for now, you will still have to buy one if you don't have one with your Galaxy S21.
You must use a charger that supports USB-C PD PPS 3.0 protocol. This is a fairly new protocol for some USB-C chargers on the market today.
The Galaxy S21 series also supports fast wireless charging up to 15W, so you can completely buy a wireless charger to use. However, it should be noted that the S21's wireless charging speed is slower than wired charging.
5. Change system font
One UI 3.1 has the option to change the style and size of the system font. Follow the steps below:
On the Galaxy S21, go to Settings > Display > Font size and style .
Tap Font style to change the system font. By default, only two fonts are installed, SamsungOne and Gothic Bold . Select the font you want.
You can download more fonts by clicking on the Download fonts option , which will take you to the Galaxy Store .
6. Enable Google Discover page
A small but important change in One UI 3.1 on the Galaxy S21 is the ability to set Google Discover as the frontmost home screen. This is much more impressive than the Flipboard page that Samsung used on previous versions of One UI.
You can activate the Google Discover page on the Galaxy S21 by tapping on the home screen, swiping to the leftmost page, and selecting Google Discover from the list.
7. Adjust Always On Display
Like previous Galaxy flagship devices, the Galaxy S21 series also features an Always On Display . While the original Always On Display implementation on Galaxy phones was pretty basic, it's no longer the case. You can customize the Galaxy S21's Always On Display to your liking, including changing the clock style, clock color, and more.
To adjust the Always On display on your Galaxy S21, go to Settings > Lock screen > Always On Display . From here, you can choose what information appears on the standby screen or just show it for about 10 seconds whenever the screen is touched. You can also schedule when the feature turns on automatically.
8. Larger text, more content on screen
The Screen Zoom feature on the Galaxy S21 series allows you to increase or decrease the amount of content displayed on the screen at any time. This feature is enabled in Settings > Display > Screen zoom .
If you want to increase the density of information displayed on the Galaxy S21 screen, set the Screen Zoom setting to the lowest level. If you want the size of the elements on the screen to be larger for clear reading, move the slider to the right.
9. Enable motion gestures
The Galaxy S21 has a lot of useful gestures, but they are turned off by default for some reason.
Go to Settings > Motions and Gestures and enable Lift to Wake and Double tap to turn on/off screen . Every time you pick up your phone, the screen will automatically light up, allowing you to see the time, date, and unread notifications.
10. Customize with Good Lock app
Samsung's Good Lock app has a ton of modules that let you tweak nearly every aspect of your device, from the home screen layout to the uninstall sounds of individual apps.
Below are the Good Lock modules available for download and their features:
LockStar : Create new lock wallpaper.
QuickStar : Customize the Quick Settings page by hiding system icons, changing the position of the clock,...
Clockface : Create a clock face for the Always On Display.
MultiStar : Improve multitasking experience by enabling pop-up view, multi-window view for all applications,...
