The world-famous cybersecurity company Fortinet has just officially confirmed that a large amount of user data was stolen from the company's Microsoft Sharepoint server, and was posted on a hacker forum early in the morning of September 15.
Accordingly, the hacker behind this daring attack, nicknamed “Fortib**ch”, shared the login information to an S3 storage (digital box for storing files online) for others to access and download. This leaked data warehouse claims to have a total capacity of up to 440GB.
Although the threat actor attempted to extort Fortinet, the company's management refused to pay. The Sunnyvale, California-based cybersecurity company has been proactive in contacting customers affected by the security incident, but has not yet officially confirmed the specific amount of data the threat actor stole.
