Apple tests diabetes prevention app on employees
Gurman revealed the existence of an internal Apple app that helps employees with prediabetes here, a topic close to the brand’s heart and one that could add to the suite of health features available to all users.
Will this app one day be available on all iPhones?
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman just revealed the existence of an Apple-designed diabetes prevention app. An app that's dedicated to health and completely off-limits to the public.
As he points out, the app is specifically for a select group of company employees who have prediabetes, or higher-than-average blood sugar levels. It’s a kind of large-scale internal test aimed at developing future features around the topic before an official launch.

The goal of the app is to help participants make healthy food choices and advise them on changes to their daily lives and lifestyles. Ultimately, Apple’s idea is to help millions of people prevent developing type 2 diabetes, a much more serious condition. The Apple Watch’s famed blood glucose sensor has been rumored for years, but it’s not expected to be released for at least another three to seven years.
While waiting for this technological feat to be accomplished, Apple could use the secret app’s system to integrate it into the Health app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. That would be a great start, but whether or not the app will ever reach all users remains to be seen!
