Cannot Connect to iTunes Store Error, Heres How to Fix It
In some cases, when you try to open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad to download applications or games to your device, you get an error that prevents you from opening the App Store, and a message appears on the screen: Cannot Connect to iTunes Store.
If you are worried about what to do to fix this error, refer to the troubleshooting steps in the article below by WebTech360.
The "Cannot Connect to iTunes Store" error occurs when you try to open the App Store or Game Center on your iOS device as well as when you try to open the iTunes Store on your computer. In most cases, this error occurs due to Internet connection issues such as not being able to access the Internet or Firewalls and iPhone antivirus programs blocking the Internet connection.
Solution 1: Force Quit iTunes Store
Of all the fixes, force-closing the App Store is the easiest. However, the process will vary depending on your iOS device model.
In addition to force-closing iTunes, changing your time zone is another easy fix. If you're traveling internationally, you may not have changed your date and time zone.
To troubleshoot iTunes Store issues:
Open the Settings app
Go to General Settings
Click on Date and Time
Turn on the Auto Set button
Solution 3: Sign out of Apple ID
Many users have been able to fix the issue by signing in and out of their Apple ID. Here's how to do it:
Open Settings
Tap your Apple ID name
Click Log Out
Wait a few seconds. You will need to enter your password to turn off your Apple ID. Then tap Turn Off.
Choose to keep a copy of your data on your iPhone, then tap Sign Out
Click Sign In Again
Enter your Apple ID username and password
Hopefully you won't face iTunes Store issues again.
Solution 4: Check Internet Connection
The Unable to connect to iTunes Store error can appear if you have a poor internet connection. Disconnecting and reconnecting to your WiFi network may help. If that doesn't work, turn on cellular data instead. Also, check to see if you're in a location with poor signal.
Solution 5: Turn Off Airplane Mode
It's possible that Airplane mode is on. Turning it on will disconnect you from cell towers, so you won't be able to connect to cellular data or WiFi networks. Just swipe up to open the control center, then tap the airplane icon.
The restart process varies depending on your iPhone and iPad model.
For iPhone with Face ID:
Press and hold the Side button and any Volume button at the same time
Drag the power slider when it appears
Press and hold the Power key to restart your device
For older iPhones:
Press and hold the Power button
Drag the Power slider when it appears
Press and hold the Power key to restart your device
Solution 7: Update iOS software
If you haven’t updated your Apple device in a while, this could be the cause of the problem. Your operating system could be outdated and buggy. Update iOS and see if your iTunes Store app error message has disappeared.
Solution 8: Reset network settings
Still having problems? Maybe it's time to move on to more comprehensive solutions. First, reset your network settings .
Resetting network settings will erase all your customized settings and restore them to their default values. Any corrupted settings that caused the problem will be erased. Just note that all saved WiFi networks, VPN settings, and Bluetooth pairings will be lost.
Solution 9: Restore factory settings
In addition to resetting network settings, you can also perform a factory reset . If you are dealing with a more stubborn error or glitch, this will be a useful tip. Your operating system will be completely erased to eliminate any cause of the unable to connect to the iTunes Store error.
Solution 10: Enter Recovery Mode
You can also put your iPhone into Recovery Mode . It's like a factory reset but reserved for the most complex software problems. However, leaving Recovery Mode mid-way through can put you at risk.
Since entering Recovery Mode is like a factory reset, it's no surprise that you'll lose all your data. Be sure to back up your files before doing so.
Solution 11: Check Apple System Services Status Page
You may not be facing any major hardware or software issues. The iTunes Store connection failure error could be due to one of Apple’s servers being down. Visit Apple’s system status page and check to see if this is the cause. You should see a green circle next to the iTunes Store if everything is fine.
If the problem is on Apple’s end, there’s not much you can do but wait for them to fix it. Unfortunately, other Apple services may be down as well. You can contact Apple support and ask when the problem will be resolved. Just keep in mind that it may take some time.
Solution 12: Contact your Internet service provider
Your Internet Service Provider's signal may also be having issues. You can contact them to find out when things will be fixed.
