The Divorce Insurance is the latest romantic comedy set in modern-day Korea and covers everything from office antics and chaotic friendships to unlikely romances and messy divorces. However, the title alone should give you a good idea of what the film is all about. The Divorce Insurance gives viewers a clearer picture of the "gamble" of marriage that many people talk about.

Divorce has become a serious topic in Korean dramas, as evidenced by the number of 2024 dramas featuring characters contemplating or recovering from divorce. The Divorce Insurance 2025 also takes on the subject. Marriage Insurance takes a humorous look at the possibility that love may need to take a few detours before achieving happily ever after. The Divorce Insurance stars Lee Dong-wook as No Ki-jun, an insurance specialist who devises a plan to protect his clients after they fall out of love.

Meaningful message of the movie Divorce Insurance
Ki-jun knows the dangers of unrequited love because he has been married and divorced three times. He paid a heavy price for each divorce. Ki-jun believes that divorce can happen to anyone and that people should probably be prepared for it. According to Lee Dong-wook, it might be time to approach the concept of divorce from a completely different perspective. He shares:
“ We shouldn’t associate it with concepts like unhappiness or sadness anymore .” “ I think we need to change our perception, because divorce can be another start, a new beginning to an even happier life. So it has nothing to do with unhappiness, and it can actually be a great opportunity to find a new love. It can be an opportunity for you to reflect on yourself and learn to love yourself more. So we wanted to ask these questions and also put people in different situations and events that happen in the film to really convey this message .”
After coming up with a divorce insurance plan, Ki-jun assembles a team consisting of Kang Han-deul (Lee Joo-bin), An Jeon-Man (Lee Kwang-soo), and Jeon Na-rae (Lee Da-hee). The team members all have some experience with divorce.
" People often think that divorce is something bad that you should stay away from ," said Lee Joo-bin (Queen of Tears, Love To Hate You). " But we wanted to talk about how there are a lot of people who are so afraid of divorce that they hesitate to even try getting married. So for those people, we wanted to tell a story about how you can also be very happy after divorce and that there are many ways to prepare for it. So instead of being scared or worried, we just wanted those people to put their happiness, hopes, and dreams above their worries about marriage ."
Ki-jun is a very different character from the ones Lee Dong-wook has played recently in dramas like Tale of the Nine Tailed, Shop for Killers, and Bad and Crazy. One big difference between Divorce Insurance and his recent dramas is the action scenes.
There are no action scenes in this drama so acting for him became much easier and more comfortable. The character Ki-jun has a magical ability to prevent people from feeling sad. So Lee Dong Wook really wanted to focus on highlighting the character's charm and appeal.

Even if real-life divorces aren't that funny, this divorce comedy will give you a more lighthearted look at the breakup. With Lee Dong Wook returning to the romance genre after a 7-year absence, this is also a highly anticipated film for fans of the handsome Korean actor.
The drama is directed by Lee Won-suk, who made his name with The Royal Tailor and Killing Romance. Divorce Insurance airs on March 31 on Prime Video.
