Google Photos finally lets you flip photos and videos horizontally
In addition to its core function of storing photos and videos, Google Photos allows users to edit photos using a built-in editor. Recently, Google has added a number of new features to the Photos app, including a long-awaited but only recently available ability: Flip photos and videos horizontally.
Specifically, according to Android expert Mishaal Rahman on social media platform X, Google Photos is about to get a new editing button that allows you to flip photos horizontally. This small change can currently be seen inside the "Crop" section of the editing tools in the Google Photos app on Android.
Note that this feature is currently only rolling out to certain users in certain regions, and has not yet been released widely to all Google Photos users. The feature is expected to be gradually distributed as a server-side update, and may appear to more users in the coming days.
Users who haven’t yet received the feature will see options to rotate, resize, and improve the aspect ratio of their images in Google Photos’ editing tools. Once the feature rolls out, you’ll see a new option to flip photos horizontally. Interestingly, this feature also applies to videos, allowing you to flip clips stored in Google Photos.
After flipping a photo or video, you'll have the option to save it as a copy, ensuring the original photo or video remains intact. This is especially useful if you've taken a selfie or recorded a video with your selfie camera and forgotten to enable the mirroring option in your phone's camera app.
