How to fix when Android phone screen cannot be rotated
The screen rotation feature allows the screen on the device to automatically rotate vertically or horizontally as desired, providing a more flexible experience. It works thanks to a small sensor built into the device, and can be turned on or off at will.
Although the screen rotation feature on Android smartphones rarely fails, sometimes errors do occur. So what should you do if you can't rotate the screen on Android? Here are some steps you can take to fix the problem.
The auto screen rotation option is disabled or not working.
Some application is interfering with the auto-rotate screen feature.
You are touching the screen while rotating.
Your Android device needs to be updated.
Operating system error, cannot control rotation sensor.
G-sensor or accelerometer sensor is faulty.
How to handle when the phone screen cannot be rotated
You can try to solve the problem by taking some of the following measures:
1. Check if the device's auto-rotate screen mode is turned off by swiping down from the status bar. Find the auto-rotate screen button and turn it on. Of course, the notification bar interface of each manufacturer will be different, but the operations are basically the same.
Enable auto screen rotation
2. Don't touch the screen while rotating the device. Remember, your Android phone has a touch screen. Holding your finger on the screen while rotating the phone will prevent the auto-rotate feature from working. This is a small but common mistake that many people sometimes don't notice.
3. Restart your Android phone . Restarting your phone will free up system memory. This is a simple operation but can sometimes solve many strange problems on the device. For example, the Android screen does not rotate, the device runs slowly, jerks, lags, or even the screen freezes.
4. Update your system software. New operating system updates often come with bug fixes and fixes for a variety of system issues. In case there are any new viruses or malware that affect the auto-rotate feature, the latest updates may include a patch that resolves the issue.
It is possible that your device is having an operating system error. In this case, reinstalling the Rom will be the optimal solution.
5. Calibrate the sensors on your device. This involves moving your phone in a figure-eight motion. Doing so will cause the accelerometer and G-sensor on your device to reset their settings to their defaults, which may help your phone respond better to rotational motion when you want to rotate the screen.
6. Uninstall some recently installed apps. If the problem started after you installed some new apps on your device, it is likely that one of these apps is causing a software conflict with Android's auto-rotate feature. Uninstall the apps one by one to find out which is the exact cause.
7. If you have tried all the above measures and still do not work, it is likely that the problem lies in the hardware. In this case, there is no other way but to take the device to a reputable place for inspection and repair.
