Is the Epic Games Store worth installing?
Mobile gaming is certainly fun, but finding new titles outside of the mainstays is difficult on the App Store and Play Store. But do third-party marketplaces, like the Epic Games Store, help improve the mobile gaming experience and the quality of titles?
Epic Games Store is now available on mobile devices
Not to be confused with the Epic Games Launcher — which first launched to distribute Fortnite in 2018 — the Epic Games Store is a new mobile marketplace experience for discovering, purchasing, and downloading new mobile titles.
Epic Games launched the mobile store on August 16, 2024, announcing the mobile launch of Fall Guys in a company blog post. Epic has stated that it plans to evolve the store into a hybrid game store featuring PC and Mac titles.
At the time of publication, the app is available for download from the Epic Games website and will work on all Android devices running Android 7.0 or higher worldwide. For iPhone users, the app is only available for download in the European Union.

With all that said, is this third-party mobile game store something to look forward to and is it worth installing?
Once you sideload the app onto your Android device, you'll find the experience is pretty straightforward. There are no sections in the app at the moment, and it simply puts the three launch titles — Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe (along with Postparty) — front and center.

Here, you can tap the install button and approve the Epic Games Store as a source to install the app onto your device—similar to the prompt you’d get when downloading the store itself. And voila! You’ve got your new game.
However, when it comes to whether the Epic Games Store is worth installing, its presence is significant, especially for those using Android devices, as game discovery seems to be a common problem on mobile devices.
If you look at your Android phone and the games installed on it, you probably won’t find anything made by an indie studio. Things are a little better on the iPhone, thanks to Apple Arcade subscriptions, which improve game discovery.
The main attraction of the app is the ability to easily install Fall Guys and Fortnite. Rocket League Sideswipe is available on the Google Play Store, so the Epic Games Store mobile app is not essential if you are only interested in this title.
Overall, the experience with the app is pretty straightforward, and I think the launch of the Epic Games Store on mobile will lead to more quality games appearing in people's feeds - games that people will want to play. Users are really looking forward to what's coming next.
