OpenAI made a big splash in November 2023 when it announced plans to release GPT, a ChatGPT-based chatbot that can be customized for specific use cases. Today, Microsoft announced its own plans to give users the ability to create their own versions of AI chatbots tailored to their specific needs and topics.
Called Copilot GPT, the feature will allow users to “customize Copilot’s behavior around a topic that interests them.” Microsoft added that it will offer several custom-built GPT Copilot instances starting today. These chatbots will be able to answer user questions on popular topics like fitness, travel, and cooking.
It should be noted, however, that this feature is not free, but is part of a suite of features that will be enabled for subscribers of the Copilot Pro service for $20 per month. Additionally, to serve the user's experience of creating a custom GPT Copilot, Microsoft plans to launch a new application called Copilot GPT Builder, which contains settings and options to make building a personalized chatbot model easier and more accurate.

In related news, OpenAI also recently launched the GPT Store, an add-on that further expands the already vast potential of ChatGPT. This move also marks a major milestone in the Copilot project, allowing users to share their own custom chatbots and enrich the ChatGPT experience.
According to the company, more than 3 million GPTs have been created since its announcement in November. The GPT Store provides a central place for users to discover and try out useful chatbots created by others. Overall, the GPT Store will bring a lot of new potential to ChatGPT and further expand the artificial intelligence ecosystem that OpenAI is focused on building.
