Samsung Galaxy Tab S10: Configuration, expected release date
Samsung has just launched the Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Buds3 series and Galaxy Ring at the Unpacked event, attracting the attention of the entire technology world. However, there is another product line that is also highly anticipated but was not mentioned at the recent event in Paris: the Galaxy Tab S10 tablet line.
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Tab S10 series, along with the Galaxy S24 FE, sometime in October. Ahead of the launch, a slew of leaks have given us details about various aspects of the devices.
Basic information
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Tab S10 series, along with the Galaxy S24 FE, sometime in October. Ahead of the launch, a series of leaks have given us details about various aspects of the device. Now, a high-quality render of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra has surfaced, giving us a glimpse at the design of this highly anticipated premium Android tablet.
This information may cause those who are planning to upgrade to a new generation Android tablet to temporarily postpone their plans until the end of the year, because the Galaxy Tab S10 will certainly be one of the top product lines on the market when it is launched.
It is reported that Samsung will remove the regular 11-inch version and only keep two larger versions, the 12.6-inch and 14.9-inch versions, meaning the Galaxy Tab S10 series will only have two versions, Plus and Ultra.
Famous technology blogger Evan Blass recently shared a render of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra on the social networking platform X, showing that Samsung's tablet model will continue to have a notch at the top of the screen to accommodate a dual camera cluster similar to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.
The rear design is also similar to its predecessor, with a smooth metal finish and a vertical dual camera module. The magnetic connector for the keyboard and attachments also appears to be unchanged. The render also shows the presence of two USB-C ports on either side of the magnetic connector.
The Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra were recently spotted on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification website, revealing that the devices will support 45W fast charging. Samsung is also expected to drop the standard Galaxy Tab S10 model from its lineup this year, as the company looks to steer users towards more affordable options like the Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab S9 FE.
It is expected that Samsung could use a MediaTek chipset inside the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, most likely the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ SoC, based on the recently leaked Geekbench results listing of the Galaxy Tab S10+.
Both tablets will run Android 14 out of the box. Based on previous renders of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, it will feature a quad-speaker setup powered by AKG. The power and volume buttons will be on the right side of the chassis, with the S-Pen magnetic charging strip on the back of the device.
Samsung will equip MediaTek chips for all Galaxy Tab S10 models
Samsung appears to be planning to equip all upcoming high-end tablets in the Tab S10 series with the MediaTek 9300+ chip.
This is the news given by “leaker” Ice Universe, who is famous for sharing highly accurate information about upcoming technology products. Ice Universe claims that all Galaxy Tab S10 variants will use MediaTek’s top-of-the-line chip, completely eliminating the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Initially, it was rumored that only one model in the Tab S10 series would use a MediaTek Dimensity chip, but this is a complete strategic shift for Samsung, and could be driven by a number of factors. The main reason is likely the rising cost of Qualcomm's high-end processors in recent years. Switching to MediaTek could be a strategic cost-saving measure for Samsung, allowing them to set a more competitive price for the Tab S10 series.
Notably, data on the US variant of the Galaxy Tab S10+ was also recently discovered in the Geekbench database with the aforementioned Dimensity 9300+ processor. This is MediaTek's current flagship processor, built on a 4nm process, featuring 8 high-performance CPU cores along with a powerful GPU.
Here are the basic specifications of the Dimensity 9300+:
Camera ISP : Supports sensors up to 320MP, 8K 30fps or 4K 60fps video recording
Whether this decision to completely switch to MediaTek will benefit Samsung and consumers remains to be seen. With a few months to go until its official launch, it will be interesting to see how the Tab S10 series performs and how it holds its own in the competitive tablet market.
