In recent years, technology products are increasingly chosen by many people as satisfactory gifts to send to friends, relatives, colleagues and partners in important anniversary events.
The demand for technology gifts is growing rapidly during the year-end holidays. This is the reason why technology manufacturers are racing to introduce products and promotional programs to the market to catch up with consumer spending trends during the most important business period of the year. Apple is no exception to that trend. But which products with the Apple logo are chosen as gifts the most during the year-end holiday season?
A new report from analyst firm CIRP reveals that among the tech devices that Apple sells on the market, the iPad and Apple Watch top the list of the most purchased Apple devices as gifts. Statistics show that there is an increase in demand for iPad and Apple Watch gifts between October and December each year. In particular, in the fourth quarter of 2023, about 6% of iPad owners and 9% of Apple Watch owners said they received the product as a gift from an acquaintance.

This is a significant increase compared to previous years. CIRP also notes that overall, only a small percentage (less than 3% in other quarters of the year) of Apple owners receive their devices as gifts. On the other hand, the percentage of iPhones and Macs given as gifts is almost negligible.
One of the reasons the iPad and Apple Watch are popular choices is because they're "easy gifts to give," according to CIRP. These tech products fall into the category of "nice-to-have" rather than "must-have" devices, which makes them a good gift.
iPads and Apple Watches are typically one-time investments that last for years and don’t require additional fees over time. On the other hand, iPhones are already expensive devices, and owners have to pay monthly to cover their carrier bills. This makes the iPhone a less viable gift, as the phone is just the beginning before someone (presumably the recipient) becomes responsible for ongoing carrier charges.
Macs are even more expensive. On top of that, they are personal and often require specific needs to be met.
It's worth noting, however, that CIRP's report doesn't include AirPods giveaways, which aren't too expensive and are also great as gifts.
