Although in some parts of India there were several hundred reports of wolf attacks in the past 20 years, the average number was 10 cases per year . "

13. Lions: over 22 deaths per year

Estimates of lion-related deaths vary widely from year to year. A 2005 study found: " Since 1990, lions have attacked 563 people in Tanzania alone, an average of about 22 per year. There are also other deaths outside Tanzania, so it is difficult to determine an accurate worldwide figure ."

12. Elephants: 500 deaths per year

Crocodiles do not necessarily hunt humans, but they are opportunistic killers. In Africa alone, there are hundreds of crocodile attacks on humans each year, of which between a third and a half are fatal, depending on the species. Many occur in small communities and go unreported.

Worldwide, crocodiles are estimated to kill about 1,000 people each year, far more than sharks.

American alligators, which are found in the wild only in the United States and China, are less aggressive than crocodiles but can still be dangerous. According to the state of Florida, 22 people have been killed by alligators since 1948.

Freshwater snails carry parasitic worms that infect humans, called schistosomiasis . This disease is transmitted through contaminated water sources because many schistosomiasis larvae swim freely in the water and penetrate the skin into the human body to cause disease. Schistosomiasis causes severe abdominal pain, damage to the urinary tract and blood in the urine, and more seriously, it can cause bladder cancer. According to the World Health Organization, millions of people worldwide have contracted this disease, and about 20,000 out of 200,000 people with the disease may die from schistosomiasis.

4. Dogs: 35,000 deaths per year

Mosquitoes – annoying insects that suck blood and transmit viruses from person to person – are the most dangerous animals in the world.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than half of all malaria deaths are caused by mosquitoes, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa, although that number has been decreasing. Malaria incidence fell by 37% between 2000 and 2015.

Dengue fever is also a mosquito-borne disease - a leading cause of hospitalization and death among children in Asia and Latin America.
