Your Android Device Is Overheating, Heres How to Fix It
Your Android phone is overheating, and it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly why it's getting hot.
When your phone gets too hot, it slows down. In some cases, it may automatically shut down until the temperature cools down, which could cause you to miss important calls.
Reasons why Android phones overheat
Use high intensity camera
Using your phone's camera to record video or for long periods of time can cause the device to overheat.
This does not happen in all cases and often depends on a number of other factors:
Selected resolution and frame rate
Screen brightness
Using the camera for long periods of time
Using the camera at high intensity can cause the phone to overheat.
To avoid this from happening, make sure your phone's camera is only used when necessary, the screen isn't set too bright, and you don't try to record at too high a resolution.
Application error
One or more apps could be causing your phone to overheat. Perhaps you installed a new app that doesn't run well on your phone. Maybe an app you use frequently has been updated and the new version is causing your Android to overheat.
Automatic app updates are helpful, but sometimes they cause problems like this.
You have two solutions:
Uninstall the application in question
Check for updates
Once the app is uninstalled, restart your phone and wait a few minutes before testing again. If your phone is still hot, try another solution below.
Clear App Cache : App caches can increase the temperature of the device due to the extra load during operation. Clear the app cache
Use auto screen off : Your device will get hot if the screen is constantly on. You can set the screen to automatically turn off after a certain period of time to help reduce the load on your device and reduce its temperature.
Does the case heat up the phone?
If your phone has a case on it, this could be the reason why it’s heating up. Many cases are made of plastic or contain a lot of plastic, which can hinder the heat from escaping. Even leather cases have the same problem.
Cases made from unsuitable materials may hinder the phone's ability to dissipate heat.
For safety reasons, when the phone gets hot (especially during high-performance tasks), remove the case or replace it with a case made of material that dissipates heat well.
Check for malware
Malware on your Android device can cause your device to overheat. After all, malware developers don't care about the health of your device. What they want is your data.
Malware can attack Android devices through malicious ads or fake apps from the official Google Play Store . It can be difficult to know when and where malware might strike, so you should learn how to spot dangerous apps and remove them.
Using the device in hot environments
Environmental factors can cause your phone to overheat.
Leaving your phone in direct sunlight is a common problem. For example, if your phone is placed on the dashboard of a car on a sunny day, it will get hot. In such cases, use the car's air conditioning system to cool the phone.
In other cases, keep your phone away from direct sunlight. If you really need to use it, store it in a cool place after use.
Phone Overheating While Charging? Check Charging Cable
Another thing that can lead to the Android phone overheating problem is the battery condition. The charging cable can also cause the problem.
If you have an old phone that has been charged too many times (you should never charge it to 100% even if you can, regularly charge it to 80 - 90% to keep the battery healthy), then the smartphone can get hot.
If your phone gets hot and causes problems when charging, it could be due to a faulty battery, a poor quality charging cable, or a problem with the port. You can try one of the following:
Replace cable and charger
Battery replacement (usually not possible)
Charging port repair
Does WiFi and Bluetooth make my phone hot?
Smartphones can overheat due to heavy use of online services. This includes WiFi and mobile internet in particular. Older devices can also overheat due to heavy use of Bluetooth.
Android users are susceptible to apps running in the background and using resources such as CPU, WiFi or mobile internet. If apps run this way, your device may heat up.
Android's battery settings let you see which apps are using resources ( Settings > Battery > Battery Manager ). This tool will detect which apps are draining your battery and let you limit them.
You can also monitor data usage by specific apps:
1. Open Settings > Apps & notifications > (See) All apps .
2. Select the application you want
3. Tap Mobile data and Wi-Fi to see its activity
4. Disable Background data option to turn off Internet access
5. Turn off the Unrestricted data usage option to allow or block data when using data saver, as this can also affect battery life.
Does WiFi and Bluetooth make my phone hot?
While this keeps background functionality from running, it also reduces resource usage, which can help keep your smartphone from overheating.
How to fix phone overheating
Have you ever been affected by your smartphone overheating and slowing down, or worse, shutting down? If so, try these steps to cool down your phone:
Point the fan at the phone (but don't put it in the fridge, freezer, or cooler)
Reduce screen brightness
Once you've done this, you'll need to know how to prevent your phone from overheating again:
Use Battery Saver mode
Clean up your phone to remove junk files and malware
Reduce camera usage
Reduce the use of WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS unless necessary
Replace charging cable, battery or consider repair
As a safety feature, phones and tablets are designed to shut down if they get too hot. Just wait for the device to cool down, then apply the measures above.
