How to Check if You’ve Won a Premium Bonds Prize with NS&I

To check if you’ve won a Premium Bonds prize, visit the official NS&I Premium Bonds prize checker, enter your holder’s number and select “Go.” You can also use NS&I’s free Premium Bonds Prize Checker app on your phone. Both options let you look for recent wins and older unclaimed prizes without searching through lists of winning Bond numbers.

November 2026 update: As of November 2, 2026, NS&I’s prize-checker page says that November results will be available November 3, 2026. That date is in UK Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, UTC+00:00). No exact publication hour is promised here. Until those results are released, a check may still show October as the latest completed draw. The normal rule is that results appear the day after the first working day of each month; the two £1 million jackpot winners are announced on the first working day and contacted separately.

What are Premium Bonds, and what do you need before checking?

Premium Bonds are a UK savings product offered by National Savings & Investments (NS&I), which is backed by HM Treasury. Instead of earning ordinary interest, every eligible £1 Bond number enters a monthly prize draw run by NS&I’s random-number system, ERNIE (Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment). Prizes range from £25 to £1 million and are free from UK Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax. Winning is not guaranteed, and the annual prize fund rate is not an individual rate of return.

For the quickest check, find your Premium Bonds holder’s number. NS&I says it is either nine digits, ten digits, or eight digits followed by a letter. You can find it on your Bond record or after signing into your NS&I account. It identifies your holding for the checker; it is not the same thing as one of your individual winning Bond numbers.

You may also have an NS&I number, an 11-digit customer identifier shown on many NS&I communications. This can be used with the dedicated Prize Checker app, but not as a substitute for your holder’s number on the public website checker. See NS&I’s official prize-checking guidance if you are unsure which number you have.

How to check Premium Bonds prizes on the NS&I website

  1. Open the official checker. Type nsandi.com/prize-checker directly into your browser rather than following an unexpected message or advertisement.
  2. Find the “Have you won a prize?” field. Enter the Premium Bonds holder’s number exactly as it appears in your records.
  3. Select “Go.” Review the available results for recent draws and any older prizes that NS&I identifies as unclaimed.
  4. Check the draw month. If you are checking around the beginning of a month, make sure the latest results have actually been published. A “no win” message for an older draw is not a result for a future draw.
  5. Keep the result private. If you need further assistance, contact NS&I through its official website rather than posting your holder’s number publicly.

According to NS&I, the checker shows prizes from the latest available draw, the preceding six draws and any older unclaimed prizes. You do not have to log in simply to use the public prize checker if you already have the correct holder’s number. You can sign into your account separately to review your records and personal details.

How to check with the official Premium Bonds Prize Checker app

NS&I provides a separate, free Premium Bonds Prize Checker app for Apple and Android devices. Visit NS&I’s official app information page to find the appropriate store links, then follow these steps:

  1. Install the official Prize Checker app and check that the developer and store listing correspond to NS&I.
  2. Enter either your Premium Bonds holder’s number or your 11-digit NS&I number.
  3. Follow the app’s prompts to view the latest available draw, recent prize history and older unclaimed wins.
  4. If you choose to save a number for future checks, assign an appropriate name. Consider setting the app PIN to prevent someone else using your device from seeing your winnings.

NS&I says the app can remember multiple holders, making it useful for households. However, you must have the other holder’s permission before entering their details. If you manage Bonds for a child under 16, use the records and arrangements associated with that child’s account. Also note that the Prize Checker app is different from the general NS&I app: the latter is mainly for managing savings balances and transactions. NS&I also provides an Amazon Alexa prize-checking skill, but it may announce winnings aloud, so consider your privacy before using a shared voice device.

When are Premium Bonds results released?

The prize checker is normally updated on the day after the first working day of the month. A “working day” is not the same as every calendar day: weekends and relevant public holidays may change the schedule. The two jackpot Bond numbers are generally announced on the first working day after NS&I has contacted those winners through its Agent Million service. For everyone else, the prize checker is the direct route to results.

QuestionPractical answer
When can I check November 2026 results?NS&I lists November 3, 2026; use the checker for any subsequent change.
Which time zone applies?UK GMT (UTC+00:00) on November 3; NS&I has not provided an exact release time in the checked guidance.
Can I check older winnings?Yes: the current draw, previous six draws and older unclaimed prizes appear through the checker.
Can I check the draw immediately after buying?Usually not: newly purchased Bonds must be held for a full calendar month before entering their first draw.

For example, Bonds bought at any time in November 2026 would normally first be eligible for the January 2027 draw, because they must be held throughout December. Bonds acquired through automatic prize reinvestment follow a different rule and can enter the next month’s draw. A missing result for newly bought Bonds therefore does not necessarily indicate a problem. See NS&I’s Premium Bonds product information for the eligibility rules and current prize-fund details.

What happens if you win a prize?

Winning a prize and receiving the money are two separate steps. NS&I lets holders choose whether eligible prizes go to a nominated bank account or NS&I Direct Saver, or are reinvested into more Premium Bonds. Reinvesting means using the prize money to buy new eligible Bonds, subject to the £50,000 maximum holding. The organization can notify you by email or text if you select an appropriate electronic prize-payment option and have valid contact details.

According to NS&I’s current help guidance, prizes sent to a bank account would normally arrive by the seventh working day of the month. If money has not arrived after that, contact NS&I to check the registered bank details. If you still receive a cheque by mail, delivery can take until the end of the month. Prize cheques expire after three months, but NS&I can issue replacements. Higher-value prizes may require a separate claim process; specifically, NS&I says that prizes of £25,000, £50,000 or £100,000 require a claim form, while the £1 million jackpot is handled through Agent Million.

To change future prize payments, sign into your NS&I account, open “Your profile” and choose “Your prize options.” People who do not use online account management can follow the alternative form-based instructions on NS&I’s prize-help page. Do not assume that a successful prize check automatically updates your payment instructions.

How to find old or unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes

Have you moved, changed your surname or found Bonds purchased years ago? NS&I says that prizes can remain unclaimed when it no longer has a valid address or when a notification does not arrive. Unclaimed prizes do not expire: there is no deadline for claiming a legitimate Premium Bonds win. The prize checker may reveal older winnings even when you do not remember receiving a notification.

If you find a prize that has not been paid, consult NS&I’s unclaimed-prize instructions. Registered customers can contact NS&I by telephone; those who are not registered can register or write to the organization. For a written claim, NS&I requests identifying details including the holder’s number, current and previous names and addresses, and a signature. Use the address published in the official instructions rather than one supplied by a third-party message.

If you cannot find your holder’s number or are not sure whether any Premium Bonds exist in your name, start with NS&I’s lost Premium Bonds and tracing guidance. Its tracing service is intended for old or missing holdings; guessing Bond numbers or entering an unrelated customer number into the website checker will not resolve the issue.

Common problems and mistakes to avoid

  • “Invalid number”: check whether you entered an NS&I number where the website asks for a Premium Bonds holder’s number. Check the length and any final letter against your Bond record.
  • “No prize” at the start of the month: confirm which draw is shown and whether the new month’s results have been released. Do not confuse a published millionaire announcement with the complete prize-checker update.
  • “I bought Bonds recently but see no win”: check first-draw eligibility. A new purchase generally needs one full calendar month of holding before it can enter a draw.
  • “I won, but haven’t received money”: review your prize-payment choice and allow for the stated payment window. Contact NS&I when the relevant deadline has passed.
  • “A text says I won and asks for my password”: do not follow the link or disclose credentials. Open the official checker independently. NS&I warns that fraudulent texts can imitate trusted senders and redirect people to fake websites.

A quick monthly checklist

  • Check the official NS&I prize checker after the new results are released.
  • Have your holder’s number ready, or use the dedicated app with your NS&I number.
  • Look at the displayed draw month, recent wins and older unclaimed prizes.
  • Keep your contact information, bank details and prize preferences up to date directly with NS&I.
  • If anything is missing or suspicious, use NS&I’s own help and contact pages—not a prize-claim link sent by an unknown person.
