DDR5 is currently being used extremely popularly by the popular community, but the high-end user community is still waiting for the upcoming DDR6 Ram version. DDR6 will be faster and use MSAP technologies.
DDR6 launch time
In February 2023, DDR6 was confirmed to be in development. Samsung announced at Tech Day that DDR6 is expected to appear as a module for commercial use in 2025. This shows that the life cycle of DDR5 is quite long, especially when considering the DDR6 will need to be integrated into RAM sticks before it can be used at the consumer level.
DDR6 RAM
DDR6 RAM speed
As DDR RAM develops with each version, the speed will often double. DDR5 operates at a maximum data rate of 51.2 Gigabytes per second on two channels per module, however, the speed of JEDEC modules is 6,400 MBps, with faster modules being released. throughout the life of DDR5.
DDR6 is expected to launch with a maximum data rate of 12,800MBps on JEDEC modules and 17,000MBps with overclocking, which can increase over the life of DDR6.
DDR6 technology
Samsung's DDR6 uses MSAP technology into DDR6 RAM modules.
MSAP stands for Modified Semi Additive Process and has been used in several brands of DDR5 RAM. MSAP allows manufacturers to create modules with better circuitry, allowing for faster speeds by covering gaps for quick transmission and better connectivity between circuits.
