Leaked Benchmarks Show Nvidia 5070 Ti Is More Powerful Than AMD 9070 XT?
Leaked Benchmarks Show Nvidia 5070 Ti Is More Powerful Than AMD 9070 XT?
Despite the hype, Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series of desktop GPUs have so far failed to live up to expectations. Aside from the nice DLSS 4 experience, Team Green’s new Blackwell graphics cards have failed to impress in terms of performance, with Nvidia failing to replicate the generational performance leaps that it did with Maxwell, Pascal, Turing, and Ada Lovelace, despite the company’s big claims during its CES 2025 onstage presentation.
And performance isn't even the worst aspect of this launch. The melting and burning power connector issues have returned, with reports from users and reviewers alike who are having issues and problems with the new power-hungry connector on the RTX 5090, at least in the case of third-party cables.
So while the community may overlook the performance aspects of the 5090 and 5080, especially since there is no direct competition from AMD this time around, safety concerns are still present. This is to be expected given the extremely high prices early adopters are paying well above MSRP.
However, the upcoming RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti GPUs will go head-to-head with AMD's 9070 XT and 9070, and as such, this segment could see some much-needed price war for users. Nvidia has confirmed the release dates for the 5070 Ti and 5070, which are February 20 and March 6, respectively.
AMD's RX 9070 series is also launching around the same time, on February 28, and so it's almost a direct matchup that could affect the pricing of the Radeon cards, as we're expecting similar performance. Speaking of performance, 3DMark benchmarks for the RTX 5070 Ti have also leaked, revealing a lot to consider. Here's a roundup of the 9070 XT and 5070 Ti performance benchmarks we've seen so far.
As can be seen in the chart above, the RTX 5070 Ti easily outperforms the supposed 9070 XT in Speed Way, which is a 1440p ray tracing test. The results were predictable as Nvidia is way ahead of AMD in this aspect.
Meanwhile, at 4K DirectX 12 rasterization performance measured with Time Spy Extreme, the 5070 Ti isn't as fast as the 9070 XT. The Steel Nomad comparison would be more accurate since it's more modern than Time Spy, but unfortunately we don't have a 9070 XT score for the Steel Nomad yet.
So if those numbers hold, AMD will likely have to price the 9070 XT a bit lower than the 5070 Ti. Nvidia’s graphics card has a list price of $749. Meanwhile, compared to the 4070 Ti SUPER, the 5070 Ti is about 16-17% faster.
