After a long wait, Google has finally officially released a version of Google Drive for Desktop that is fully compatible with Windows devices running on Arm architecture. This is good news for users of devices like Surface Pro 11 for Business or laptops using Snapdragon X chips.

- November 2023 : First beta released for Windows 11 on Arm platform
- March 2025 : Final official version ready for public release
System requirements:
- Windows 11 only
- Requires Microsoft WebView2 - a runtime component that allows developers to embed web content into native apps
- This version will completely replace the previous emulation version.
Implementation process:
- Released starting March 24, 2025
- Will be rolled out gradually over the next 15 days
- Applies to both Google Workspace user groups: Rapid Release and Scheduled Release

Special Note:
Despite its official release, the Google Drive for Desktop system requirements page has not been updated, still showing that only 64-bit Windows is supported.
The Windows Arm platform has faced many challenges in terms of application compatibility and performance. However, with the launch of Windows 11 for Arm and improvements in emulation support and performance optimization from Microsoft (especially on Copilot+ PC lines such as Surface Pro 11 for Business), more and more popular applications such as Chrome, Adobe Illustrator, and even less popular applications such as Signal Messenger can now run smoothly on Arm devices.
This event marks an important step forward in expanding the application ecosystem for Windows devices running on the Arm platform, helping users have a more complete experience when using Google cloud services on these devices.
