Where to find Minecraft Salamander?
Finding Axolotls in Minecraft 1.17 is not easy. Axolotls are cave-dwelling animals that only spawn in complete darkness (light level 0). They can also survive on land but not for long (less than 5 minutes), if you leave them on the shore near the sea, they will try to find their way to the water.
On the plus side, the Axolotl cave pool in Minecraft doesn't have to be very deep. It's typically located in a solid block cave no more than five blocks below the Axolotl's spawn point. You don't have to dig deep either, as Axolotls can spawn at y:63, which is sea level or lower.
Note that only one to four salamanders appear in a group. They come in five distinct colors, the rarest being blue which is extremely rare. Blue appears about 1 in 1200 so don't get your hopes up.
How to catch and tame an Axolotl
With such an adorable appearance, it is only natural that Minecraft players would want to tame their own pet axolotl. Unfortunately, they are passive animals and can be easily captured and transported.
So you can catch them and breed Axolotls and create your own Axolotl zoo in Minecraft 1.17.
The easiest way to transport Axolotls is to use a bucket of water and catch them, then you can take them anywhere. Alternatively, you can lure them with a bucket of tropical fish or use a lead.

Axolotls in Minecraft will fall in love if you give them a Tropical Fish box. Of course you need 2 Axolotls to create a baby Axolotl. Baby Axolotls take 20 minutes to grow.
If you want to spawn a Salamander in creative mode, you can use the command, an egg, or a Salamander bucket.
