Excel measures the distance between data points in a chart as a percentage, so sometimes you will see that the distance between bars and columns in the chart is quite wide. Instead of leaving such a wide distance, users can adjust it to make the chart layout more beautiful and easier to read the data. Step 1:
At the Excel interface with the chart you created, we right-click on any point in the column, then select Format Data Point in the list displayed below.

Step 2:
Display the interface on the right side of the screen, we click on the Series Options icon to adjust.

Step 3:
Look down at the Series Overlap bar , adjust the % to adjust the distance between bars and columns in the Excel chart. Continue adjusting at the Gap With bar to adjust the width of each column to match the distance in the chart as you want.
