The first fix is always the easiest: Restart your computer. Turning your computer off and back on will fix many problems. Before you start trying other fixes, restart your computer and see if that fixes the "Bad System Config Info" error.
2. Check hardware
For some, it may seem like a daunting task to get inside your PC and start messing with physical components. However, faulty hardware like RAM or a faulty hard drive can cause this error.
Your RAM sticks should look something like this. Make sure they are nice and fit in their places
If you are comfortable opening up your PC, you can look inside to make sure the RAM is properly seated in the slots and the hard drive SATA cables are properly connected. These checks should not take more than a few minutes.
Assuming your RAM and hard drive are installed correctly, you should check the health of your RAM and hard drive. Quantrimang.com has detailed instructions for both types of tests. Interested readers can refer to:
If you get bad results in both tests, this could be the cause of the error and the best solution to fix this problem is to replace the hardware.
3. Uninstall apps and updates
Some users reported that the BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO error appeared after they installed a new application or Windows update . In this case, the best way to resolve the incompatibility issue is to uninstall the problematic application or update to resolve this error.

4. Update driver
Incompatible or out of date drivers can cause a variety of problems such as preventing users from using certain hardware. It can even cause blue screen of death errors like "Bad System Config Info".
To solve this problem, you should update your drivers regularly to ensure that key components are using the latest drivers.
Check if the device is using the latest driver.

Step 1. Click Start .
Step 2. Click on the power button.
Step 3. Press and hold the Shift key , then click Restart .

A persistent "Bad System Config Info" error may indicate that the file system is corrupted. Sometimes, important Windows system files can become corrupted and cause problems. Windows System File Check (SFC) is a built-in Windows system tool that you can use to check for errors.
However, before running the SFC command, it is important to check that it is working properly. To do this, we use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool.
Like SFC, DISM is a built-in Windows utility with a variety of functions. In this case, the DISM Restorehealth command ensures that the next step of the repair will work properly. See: Check and Repair Hard Drive Errors with the Chkdsk Command on Windows for details on how to do this.

How to fix a corrupted Windows 10 installation
System errors are the worst thing that can happen to your Windows installation. This article will show you how to get Windows 10 back to normal after experiencing BSODs, driver errors, or other unexplained problems.
B3: Wait for the command to complete. This process may take up to 20 minutes, depending on your system status. The process may seem to stop at certain times, but please be patient and wait for it to complete.
B4: Once the process is complete, type the following command and press Enter.
sfc /scannow
7. Edit BCD file
If the BCD file is corrupted it can cause the "Bad System Config Info" error and deny access to Safe Mode, as well as Windows 10.
To fix this error, you need a Windows 10 bootable USB drive or installation DVD. You can use the Media Creation Tool if you don't have a bootable USB drive. Once you have a bootable USB drive, follow these steps:
Step 1. Plug the USB boot into the computer and boot from it.
Note: The folder of each of these commands will be renamed when you press Enter and after finishing, Windows 10 will not use them again. It may be deleted, so you should rename it in case you want to restore the system.
Step 4. Next, enter the following line into Command Prompt.
These commands will copy the registry backups and replace the old files. After running the commands, close Command Prompt and restart your computer.
9. Restore Windows Registry
The “Bad System Config Info” error can also be related to problems with the Windows Registry. The Windows Registry is essentially a giant internal database that contains important, machine-specific information related to almost everything in the system:
System hardware
Installed software and drivers
System settings
Profile information
Restoring the Windows Registry from a backup should clear up any errors. However, there is a problem with this fix. As of Windows 10 version 1803, there is no automatic backup of the Windows Registry. Before version 1803, Windows would back up the Registry every 10 days using the RegIdleBackup service.
Microsoft has stopped automatic backups to reduce the size of the Windows 10 footprint. Therefore, Microsoft recommends that you use a system restore point to repair a corrupted registry. Before you begin this fix, you may want to check to see if you have a backup of the Windows Registry to restore.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack. This folder contains Windows Registry backups. If the file size shows 0, you cannot use this backup method and should move on to the next section.
If the above methods do not resolve the issue, try performing a system restore. Refer to the article How to perform a system restore in Windows for instructions on how to restore.
11. Reset Windows 10
This is probably the last method to fix the "Bad System Config Info" error if the above methods do not work. Before resetting, create a backup because this process will delete all files in drive C. Refer to the article Summary of some simple ways to Reset Windows 10 to know how to do it.
Some frequently asked questions
How to find Windows Stop Codes like this and fix them?
There are third-party applications that can help you find stop code in your system scripts. BlueScreenView is the most notable option.
BlueScreenView is a useful, free, portable application that allows you to view minidump files created when Windows crashes and displays a blue screen of death error. The program will display each individual minidump, with information such as the file name of the minidump, the date/time of the crash, and the process that created the minidump. It will also display basic crash information such as the Bug Check Code and 4 parameters. Details about the driver or module that may have caused the crash are reported; this includes the file name, product name, file description, and file version of the driver/module.
The program does not need to be installed on the system. Once downloaded, all the user has to do is unzip the program files and then run the executable. Since it is portable, the program can be used from a USB. The program can also export the minidump information to a text file, which can be used in forums to help diagnose blue screen errors.
How to boot in Safe Mode?
Sometimes the BSoD error makes it difficult to perform any of the fixes suggested in this article. In that case, you can try booting into Safe Mode by holding down the F8 key while Windows starts. Then, switch to Safe Mode before the system finishes loading.
Can Windows automatically fix Bad System Config errors?
Whenever Windows has trouble booting properly, the Windows Automatic Repair tool runs as a way to fix the error. Unfortunately, this isn't always a helpful solution for BSoD errors.
