How to Install Google Camera on Android Devices
When it comes to mobile photography, most people agree that software is important. The leader in this field is Google Camera, which was designed for Pixel phones. However, Google Camera can now be installed on most Android devices, taking advantage of all its features.
What is Google Camera?
Google Camera is a camera app that was launched in 2014 on the first Google Pixel phone. Although it doesn't have many hardware advantages like flagship phones, Pixel is still one of the best camera devices on the phone.
It proves that photo quality is not so much dependent on hardware. By replacing the phone's built-in app, Google Camera gives you access to advanced features that produce the best quality photos.
Why is Google Camera so good?
Why Google Camera is better than the stock Android app? Here are some of the great features that Google Camera has:
Slow Motion : Record video at 120 or 240 fps, depending on your camera's capabilities. This is the ideal resolution for creating videos that show every detail of motion.
Motion Photos : Combines the movements of a 3-second video with the phone's optical image stabilization and gyroscope to create fast, blur-free video shots.
Lens Blur : Designed primarily for portrait photography, this feature blurs the background, emphasizing and enhancing the subject's front and center.
HDR+ : By cleverly using short exposure times when taking a series of photos, HDR+ reduces blur, image noise, and increases dynamic range. Effectively, the app takes the sharpest photo out of a set of photos, algorithmically enhances it by processing each individual pixel, and choosing a color that matches the average color across the set. Among its many benefits, HDR+ helps improve photos taken in low light the most.
Smart Burst : With Google Camera installed, your phone will be able to take about ten photos per second by holding down the shutter button. Once you release the button, the app will automatically choose the best photo from the bunch. This is a great feature to have when you want to eliminate photos of people with their eyes closed!
Video Stabilization : Using both OIS and digital video stabilization, the app processes video clips to eliminate rolling shutter distortion and correct focus. As a result, you can create smooth videos that are pleasing to the eye and don’t annoy people when you share them on social media.
Panorama : Most cameras have a panorama feature, but Google Camera is better than most. What's more, Google Camera isn't limited by degrees or angles. With it, you can take vertical, horizontal, and wide-angle panoramas across a full 360 degrees.
Many phones already have some of these features, but Google Camera delivers top-notch results in almost every case. It elevates even basic shots, thanks to HDR and low-light performance.
